Farroh's points and rebound numbers are off-the-chart...she has to have a chance. It has to be between Roehrich, Farroh and Shauna Long!

Farrow: ppg. 19.3, rpg. 16.0, spg. 3.1, bspg. 2.1
Golus: ppg. 23.0, rpg. 13.6, spg. 2.63, bspg. 3.88
Roehric: ppg. 26.0, rpg. 9.9, spg. 2.6, bspg. 0.9
Golus has almost no chance of winning if her team doesn't make it to state and I don't know Shauna Long's stats but I've read plenty about her. Roehric is the favorite right now but is not a lock to win as she only leads the other class A hopefulls in points per game only.

Ahh Roehrich leads the state in scoring and has last year. She is the point guard of her team brings the ball up and is second in rebounding in the edc. She still averages 26 a game plus her 9.9 rebounds. She runs the whole offense of the bruins. Plays with 3 players that have little varsity experience in the starting line up.Dr. Sports you apparently have not seen her play, come watch a game and you would see a good player.

Other than Shauna I've seen them all play. You obviously have special interests and one can not argue with someone who has favorites. You have have ties to Megan or Fargo South of some form or another and will probably lie by saying you don't on the next post.

I'll agree with sportsguruguy...Roehrich is a great player and has had a great career for Fargo South.

But my vote still goes with Shauna Long of Standing Rock...she has well around 2,200 points for her career and is a load of fun to watch.

Alyssa Dehne is the best girls basketball player I have seen this year. She does it all and makes her team a lot better. She probably won't win because of her unwillingness to build stats at the expense of her team. As long as her team wins, she is happy. I hope that she gets the recognition that she deserves.

I have seen every player on the list but Golus and Hruby play and Shauna Long is the most exciting player on the offensive end of the court. Farroh needs to be considered, she has put up monster numbers as well and with less talent around her.

I think right now its between Roehrich from Class A and Long from Class B. I don't think they try to pad their stats...I think they do what is expected from them to help their teams win. Both are good all-around players, but most importantly, they score points when its needed. I don't think we should overlook top rebounders, assist leaders, and defenders, but I would definitely not look down at top scorers in the state.

She is very talented, but I consider Golus from TM to be a stronger post player in the State, but that's just my opinion. Both are returning 1st team All-Staters. Unfortunately, neither one has recently led their team to a State appearance so its tough to argue against those that have.

If Central can make some noise in state this year, then no question Farroh has to be the lead candidate. Look at her career numbers. Over 1300 points and more rebounds than any other girl in the history of Class A. Not to mention leading the EDC in blocks and close to the top in steals. She is taking a team that no one thought would amount to much this year and made Central into arguably the best team in the state.

Wow! Rebounders are so important and underappreciated. Nobody goes to "rebounding camp" but we wouldn't need amazing shooters if we have amazing rebounders...unfortunately she may get overlooked.

To the one person who keeps arguing in favor of Roehrich....

Below is the top 10 girls by fg% just in the EDC. Farroh is #1. You can see who else is on it, and not.

Player, Team FG FGA Pct.
Farroh, GF Central 125 192 65.1
Larson, Fargo North 97 183 53.0
Fisher, Fargo South 63 127 49.6
Elshaug, Devils Lake 134 271 49.4
Anderson, Shanley 31 63 49.2
DeVillers, Wahpeton 25 51 49.0
Moffett, Fargo Davies 89 185 48.1
Knecht, GF Red River 39 82 47.6
Nelson, West Fargo 49 104 47.1
A. Dehne, Fargo North 95 207 45.9

An argument in Roehrichs favor: FT's. Below is the top 7 by FT % in the edc. as you can see, Roehrich has shot an astonishing 70 more free throws than anyone else! She also converts at just about 3/4.

Player, Team FT FTA Pct.
Knecht, GF Red River 42 48 87.5
Ripplinger, GF Red River 30 36 83.3
Fisher, Fargo South 24 29 82.8
Wade, Devils Lake 29 36 80.6
Carew, Shanley 48 64 75.0
Roehrich, Fargo South 112 150 74.7
Holland, West Fargo 59 80 73.8

Farroh is #1 in Rebounds by about 7 rebounds.
Roehrich is second in rebounds and number 6 in Assists.
Farroh is 1st in blocks, Roehrich 7th.
Farroh is number 6 in steals, Roehrich number 8.

Basically, we have two excellent, excellent players who both fill the stat sheet in different ways. Reason why I go Farroh:
1. 65% shooting percentage. Much much much much more efficient, even factoring in how often Roehrich makes it to the line. Roehrich as noted isn't in top 10 in edc in fg%
2. Roehrich wastes possessions on 3 pointers. The 10th best 3pt shooter by percentage in the EDC shoots 30%. Yet Roehrich is 10th on the "made 3pts" list, with 16 in 14 games. Thus at best she's somewhere around 16 out of 50 from 3, and it could be worse (it's only that good if she's 11th in the EDC, which i'm not sure about.) This is understandable if you watch the games- a few times every game she hoists up NBA range 3pters which almost never go in. If you're shooting that low a % you shouldn't be shooting 3's... although really i think it's the nba ranger 3's that hurt her, she's fine at the normal spot.
3. Rebounds. Farroh is a different position which lends itself more to rebounding. but 16.6-9.6 is too large an advantage. Farroh's more valuable.

Also, just an interesting point :

in the NBA it's been demonstrated that point differential is much more important than w/l in determining how good a team is. That's a little less true at the HS level undoubtedly because teams sit their stars when up by a good amount and then it normally remains stagnant. But if you look at the differential--

GFC +15.9
Fargo South +15.7
Shanley +12.8
WF +9.8
Devils Lake +7.8
FN -0.5
RR -5.1

In other words, WF is overrated and South underrated.

And if you think Defense is Key come Tournament Time: You're going for Shanley or Central.
Shanley 49.3 ppg allowed
GF Central 49.5 ppg allowed

I don't know if I am the ONE who thinks Roehrich is going to win the award, but I am basically going on the fact that I have watched the last 2 state championships, and she was on the floor. The media likes players who are still playing at the end.

Agreed Farroh is indeed a great player. Farroh and Roehrich both have had exceptional High School careers. Best of luck to both of them and to whom else gets to be a candidate. Who is a going to be a better recruit at the next level? I do know this is that if other players on the bruins dont step up and play the game with a little passion and heart they are going to be a early exit at edc and or state.

Every girl I have talked to that played in the EDC tells me Roehrich is the best. I have not seen Farroh play, and would love to, but I hear Roehrich every time.

I quote: "Farroh is definitely good, but she does nothing special to earn her points. She is just bigger than everybody." I am not saying this is my personal opinion, as I am amazed by her stats, but I have not seen her play.

In Roehrich's favor, she is probably top 15 in every statistical category in the EDC, and will have lead it in scoring 3 consecutive seasons. She won GPOY last year as a junior. I see her winning Miss Basketball. Her career and senior season have been phenonemal, and she wins.
