Poor rankings...TM should be ranked higher than Century, and Williston and Mandan should be ranked higher than Minot out of the West. I still think South is the team to beat out of the East.

I agree! Century lost alot and Williston I think brings more to the table. Mandan returns everyone and definetly should be higher than both. Mandan was in the consolation game last year ahead of both Williston and Minot. Really Poor Rankings.......

Although Century did lose a lot last year, they have a few girls returning. The girls that will be playing full time varisty for the first time, looking back at their stats and past games, definitely did not lose many games in their seasons. Last year's Century squad had standouts, where this year I predict a more balanced and deep team. I'd say the WDA is very even. Seems like everyteam has one leader, but a decent team to back her up. Mandan's team should be very different now that Stephanie Peterson's father is no longer the coach. Williston and Jamestown I would expect more of the same out of them, little improvement or setbacks. TM still has Goulus, who is a great athlete, but lost La Rock who was a big presence on their team. Overall, I'd say rankings arn't too inaccurate.

You are right that Century doesn't have any standouts and will be a team of average players. Don't look for them to do much next year.. looks like a rebuilding year. Minot will be better than Century this year...

Mandan however, has a new coach who was a very successful college coach and went to nationals last year. They will be very good. I really like to watch Longtin play.

Williston, went to state and return all of their height so I don't see how you can lump them with Jamestown???? They have a lot of 6 foot players so height will be an issue.

TM and Dickinson HAVE standouts and will be a contendor.

Top 5: Mandan, Dickinson, TM, Williston, Minot.

Mandan, Dickinson, and TM have returning All-Staters who should help their teams early on. Bismarck and Century are going to have to take a good look at their programs if one of them can't put together a team to earn a state appearance.

North should be rated higher. They will have a great year.

This power poll is compiled from what the coaches send in as their predictions

Although Shanley may lack a superstar they have more overall depth than the state has seen in a long time. Top 8 returning players including 3 players that averaged over 10 points/game, Kenney was the assist leader in the EDC last year, 2 players that averaged over 7 rebounds/game, and the second-rated team scoring defense last year. They will only get better this year, and with as much depth as they have they will be capable of wearing teams out over an entire season not to mention a tournament.

is it true that Sophie Kenney of Shanley tore her ACL in practice? That would be a terrible loss for Shanley and for her being a senior? Has anyone heard that?

Sophie Kenney has not torn her ACL and is not done for the year. I believe she had a minor quad pull. She will be good to go come Saturday.

I hope shanley does well this year. They were good last year, but to me they just didn't know how to win. Shanley and North is the team I'm excited to watch. South will still be good team.

Shanley won last night against St. Mary's 76-68. Sarah Storandt had 30 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Deacons

The Bruins beat Moorhead last night convincingly 73-39. With the best 3 point shooter in the state on the bench due to an ankle sprain. South is still the team to beat in the east. It will be a real test on saturday night when the Knights come to the bruins den. If the knights have good guard play along with Farohh they will be a tough team in the east and the state. South wins 62-54

north beat a very very good devils lake team last night. That soph Larson had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Dehne had 19 points and Lopez had 12 points and 10 rebounds. I wouldn't count North out.
