I did not rate Dickinson in the top four, because of their failure to reach state last year.  Dickinson will miss Sipma and I heard that Steffan has signed to play volleyball in college and may not have her heart in basketball.   Although Bismarck again lost a number of Seniors, they had a good Jay vee team, have good coaching and always seem to put a good team on the floor.  Minot was impressive in making it to state last year and they have their best players back.  Jamestown was just under .500 last year and one of their best players missed half the year.  If Johnson can come back from her injury they will have most of their team back.

Where did Steffan sign? Volleyball is probably her best sport.

i don't think without her height wouldn't be good at either sport

i heard colorado state.

and Ditka14:

you can be short and still good.  she is flat out phenominal when it comes to volleyball so i don't see how you can say if you take away her height she's going to be bad. and i don't think you can take anything away from her.  look at lafrance - she's a half foot shorter and still slams it down or even ali edwards, miranda wisham, amanda hennessy all are under 6ft and were top hitters on their teams respectively.  so don't try and down play the type of athlete she is.

Wow, you guys totally underestimate Shanley. They have a quality mix of experience and team chemistry. My predictions for EDC are:

1. Fargo Shanley

2. Fargo South

3. Devils Lake

4. West Fargo

At the mid-point of the I think I did a pretty good job with my prediction in June.  In the WDA I predicted
1. Mandan

2. Century.

3, Bismarck, and

4.  Minot or Jamestown.

I think it is Minot and Dickinson fighting for the fourth spot instead of Minot and Jamestown.  Of course I could not predict that one of Jamestown's best players, Morgan Dale, would get injured.  Minot is currently ahead of Dickinson and has beat Dickinson.

In the east I picked the four teams that are currently in the top 4.  The only difference is that I had Shanley fourth and they are currently in 1st.   However, I did not know they would be getting Schuler as a transfer.  I did know that Shanley had some good height in their post players.  With their good transfer they are a team to be reconned with at least in the east.  Also they have had a good schedule.  They beat South, West Fargo and Devil's Lake at home.  It will be interesting to see if they can win against them on the road.

As I see it Mandan is still the team to beat.  Although Century beat Mandan on its home court in Mandan's second game of the year, Century struggled with Dickinson at home, needed a last second shot to beat Minot on the road and lost to Bismarck on its home court.  While you have to give Bismarck credit for beating Century on Century's home court you have to take into account that Bismarck lost to Mandan by 37 at home.

the 4th spot is pretty much a battle in the WDA. . .

1. Mandan

2. Century

3. Minot

4. wide open

why is because the teams for this spot are clearly in every game they play except for when they play Mandan or Century, it'll be interesting come regionals

I've watched dickinson play 3 times this year. Very streaky, but I think when it comes to crunch time at the regional tournament, they'll ride Steffan.  I've been very impressed by her ability to put the ball on the floor and shoot the 15 footer...she just doesn't get enough touches.

I do not feel bismarck earned the number 2 spot.  Yes, they did beat century.  However, it was in 2OT by 5 points without their best two players in both OT.  Credit them for getting those players out of the game, but when they lost to mandan by as much as they did, who century beat, I don't think they should have even been top 3.  Mandan is 1, obviously, but it's like they just handed bismarck 2 because of one big win and not much else.  I'm just not convinced yet.

I'd agree with that.  When you have 3 teams with each beating another, you have to look at margin of victory along with how recent the game was.

century should have been 2 because they beat mandan you can go jus by that and they barely lost to bismarck too
