Coach Craig Flaagan FSH Girls Basketball

Coach Flaagan goes for his 300th win on 1-30-09 when the Bruin girls meet the Packer girls!
Craig Flaagan is in his 17th year as head coach of the Bruin girls' basketball program, Last year the Bruin girls finished 1st in the EDC, won the East Region tournament for the third year in a row, and finished 3rd in the state. Craig has been coaching girls and boys basketball at South for all 29 years of his coaching career. Coach Flaagan has led the Bruins to 14 state tournament appearances in 16 years, winning the State championship in 1992 and 1994, 2nd place in 2004 and 2006, 3rd place in 1993, 1994, and 2008, 4th place in 1996 and 2003 and 5th place in 1995 and 1998. He has guided the Bruins to 7 conference and 7 region titles. In Craig's 16 years at South, 19 Bruin players have been named "All State". His current head coaching record at South coming into this season is 287 wins and 108 loses, for a 73% winning margin. Craig was named North Dakota "Coach of the Year" in 1992,2004, and 2006, EDC "Coach of the Year" in 1992, 1993, 2000, 2004, 2005 and 2008. He also was North Dakota Winter Sports "Assistant Coach of the Year" in 1992. Craig has also been a part of three championship teams as an assistant coach, two with the South boys in 1986 and 1989 and one with the girls in 1985. Craig is a lifelong Fargo resident, graduating from Fargo North in 1975 and Concordia College in 1979. He teaches physical education at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School. Craig’s wife’s name is Cheryl and his daughter Kari graduated from Concordia College.

How does Coach Flaagan get his players to be so confident? Look at Fee and Lindsay from Central, they do not have the composure like Flaagan's sophmores.

From what I've seen with Flaagan, you have to be tough on the kids. He never settles.

If Hintz from Central had the same support from his administration, I bet his team would have been even better. He would not have to put up with girls crying. Flaagan is tough, but he is also a great coach! Suppose he is going to apply for the new Fargo school's coaching position or stay at South?
