Burck is very good, but I guess the topic is "best junior in the west." It doesn't bother me, but someone will jump on you.

Good Point. Top rated teams top player has to take the first spot. It could change by the end of the year. If Century beats South at state then you have to go with Buck.

Kelsey Peltier from Bottineau High School 3-State Championships... and could possible get 5..

I do believe Bottineau is in the Western part of the State..
But I forgot this is a Class A Forum not Class B...
In anycase I do believe she deserves her props

Granted I have only seen Burck play at State, and against BHS, but dang.

4th in the East in scoring, 2nd in assists, 2nd in field goal percentage, 3rd in steals, 3rd in blocks, and would be 4th in 3 point percentage, but hasn't shot enough.

Seriously. 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th. Of the 9 major categories, she is top 5 in 6 of them.

The thing about her scoring is that she really only scores when she has to or has wide open shots. She gets everyone around her better and I think that if all 5 South starters did not average double figures, her scoring would be higher...she is just not asked to score a lot. I like watching her becuase nothing really rattles her, she just does what needs to be done.

I think that is what defines a top player, making others around her better. I don't know if Buck has that and I haven't seen Burck play since last year state but then I didn't really see it, maybe it was just a bad night. This is hard call but it is basically down to these two players.

Madi Buck has shown throught this season enormous talent, using her stunning dexterity, both athletically and mentally on the court. Her keen awareness, complimented by vigorous athleticism makes her the greatest player in the state. No debate.

Madi is a good ball player, but i think it is a stretch to say she is the greatest player in Class A.There is definately a debate.

At the beginning of the season, I would have agreed with Madi Buck being one of the best juniors in the state. She has not shown up lately and really needs to mature to be a better player. She playes physically and emotionally out of control. With another year under her belt she may improve and gain some composure.

Madi Buck is Good but not Great. She needs to work on her shot and post moves, she does not have a shot outside the lane. She does not dominate the boards and lacks ball handling.

She is a great athlete but lack some basketball fundamentals. If she works on those skills, she could be great. Just not there yet.
