For sophomores you have to give the nod to Farroh and Hammer from Central and the best of that class Mertens from Devils Lake. All of them were all-EDC last year as freshman.

Meghan Roehrich and Alley Fisher are two very talented sophomores from South, Roehrich started last year as a freshman and Fisher came off the bench and had a very good second half of the year. There were alot of good underclass players last year in the EDC, so this season should be interesting.

Dickinson had a freshman player last year, Jess Herauf. I think she started for them and will be one of the upcoming players to watch. Very athletic.

Sarah Storandt, Sophie Kinney and Nicole Carew all played for Shanley last year as freshman, all three will play major roles for the Deacons this season.

How many players make All-EDC?
Definitely agree with Mertens pick.

roehrich from south will be by far the best sophomore in the league this year. she came on strong at the end of the season last year, its just that south is so deep its hard to break into the lineup. she led them in scoring something like 6 of the last 7 games they played. put her on any other team in the edc last year and she is all-state. 15 girls make all edc and south had 4 starters on that team. roehrich was their 5th starter and probably best player at the end of the year, but since she didn't start the whole season she was left off that list. that will not be the case this season.

Roehrich's a good player, but I think calling her the best player on last year's team is a stretch. Was she better than Haring or Stroup at the end of year?

Where does EGWs post say that Roehrich was Souths best player last year? EGW said she was playing the best at the end of the season. In my opinion Haring was Souths best player last year but they had a very balanced team. Roehrich did lead the Bruins in scoring throughout the EDC and State touraments, She should be one of the better players in the EDC this year as a sophomore!

personally, i think Katie lee will be the best player for South this year. I saw her play at the Roosevelt tournament and she was the leading scorer in almost every game.. she has developed into a hugh threat for south

Mandan has a lot of good players in the 8th and 9th grade. You'll see some of the 9th graders on JV this year. As far as that scrore... well Mandan's 8th grade coach makes me shake my head some times. Not the classiest one of the bunch.

Mandan had a 7th grade coach about 3 years ago, that was a big JERK. Bismarck has their share of Middle school coaching wonders but that guy, I wouldn't be surprised if Mandan got rid of him.

Same guy. Kim Jenson (Paige's mom) was the 8th grade coach so when they left for Bemidji that opened him up to take the 8th grade.

Turtle Mountain has some solid younger players, especially Sasha Golus, she averaged a double-double in points and rebounds last season as a freshman...

Alley Fisher is the best three point shooter in the state as a sophomore. She has shot over ninety 3's and still is nearly leading the state in 3 point percentage. She has a bright future ahead of her.

Yeah she is a VERY good shooter. the majority of her shots are 3's, and shes shooting nearly 50% from the line.

Farroh's numbers dwarf hers. Shanley has a a great core of young players that we are going to be talking a lot about in two years.
