Poll

Postby Baller » Thu Jan 31, 2008 10:04 am

This week's poll

Class A

Rec Pts Pvs

1. Bismarck (8) 13-0 40 1

2. Fargo South 10-3 30 3

3. Mandan 11-3 25 5

4. Fargo Shanley 10-2 13 4

5. Jamestown 10-3 12 2

I think this a little better than last week's. I don't think that South is better than Mandan. I say switch South and Mandan around and this is a great poll.

I think Mandan should be #2 also. There is a good argument that Jamestown should be #3 then and Fargo South #4 because Jamestown beat FS. FS has 3 losses as does Mandan and Jamestown. I still think the West will dominate at State.

With your logic Century should be ahead of Jamestown, South beat Century by 20 at Century and Jamestown lost to Century at Century. Mandan has not played Shanley or South, but South did scrimmage Mandan and beat them. I am not saying Mandan is not the second best team right now but PLEASE give the EDC some credit. Both South and Shanley are good teams. Polls are nothing more than conversation pieces, nobody wins state from the polls. The 5 best teams are the ones ranked, The order is irrevelant

How do you know who won in the scrimmage? Did you keep score and if so, isn't it considered a game? As far as Century goes, they lost 5 games so I won't put them in the poll. I don't think you should rate Jamestown less than South because they beat South and South has not beat them.

Let's compare with who they lost to:

1. BHS - undefeated.
2. Mandan - BHS, Jamestown, Oregon team (Nationally Ranked)
3. Jamestown - BHS, Mandan, Century (record is 8-6)
4. FS - BHS, Jamestown, Moorehead (record is 8-9)

Again, Polls really mean nothing. It only matters how someone is playing when it comes to State.

South lost by 3 at Jamestown, Mandan lost at Jamestown by 9... Jametown is a very tough place to get a road win. Moorhead was a very good team when they played South, after the South game their Division 1 player broke her hand, that would be like Jamestown losing Dale or Mandan losing Finley... since then they have lost 4 out of their last 5 games. The Mandan scrimmage was not scored on the scoreboard but score was kept.

Lets wait til March 8th and see who wins

The west is obviously stronger. Mandan beat Jamestown the second time around by the same score they lost to and the Nationally ranked team(no.4) only beat mandan by 10. Mandan took third in the tournament where the average team in stronger than what will be at state.

You cannot base it off a scrimmage that is controlled and not even a game setting. If you compare losses to Mandan. FS lost to BHS by 21 and Mandan lost to BHS by 10 and Finely played with a bad ankle sprain. Mandan has not lost to an average team like Jamestown and FS. FS may be better than Jamestown but the fact is you haven't beat them yet. My opinion "The West will still dominate".

Here's a true fact for you. Moorehead's record was 4 wins and 4 loses before they played you. Sounds like you lost to an average team. http://www.moorhead.k12.mn.us/schools/m ... teamid=155

Jamestown only beat Century by 2 at their gym... Shanley just came off a good victory against Moorehead. I think Shanley should be 4 and Jamestown 5.... Jamestown did play BHS close and only lost at the very end when Gilbertson hit a couple 3's. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they do Saturday.

The poll came out wednesday night before Shanley played Moorhead and Moorhead really isn't very good without Jacobson. I think that Shanley's loss to Red River solidified their spot at 5 until Jamestown or South gets beat

My bad, I did not realize she was back. Great win for the deacons then.

I agree. Jamestown and Shanley must be pretty close but Shanley seems to be playing better now. South is improving with Fisher emerging as a three point threat. Bismarck still is very good. Don't know what happened with Mandan/St Marys. I think South and Shanley will be competitive assuming they make it to state. I would say that both have a great chance of being in the winners bracket. Should be fun and interesting.
