I haven't seen BHS's but they sound a lot like South's boys.  I didn't like them at first but they grow on you.

I agree... I didn't really like south's warmups, and I'm still iffy about it, but they're ok.

Demeaning to you?? This paragraph is from Wikipedia. I'm sure if you write the school a letter, maybe they'll apologize to you. However, the people its supposed to defend apparently don't feel that way.

Read on:

There has been a noteworthy degree of controversy surrounding Dickinson's mascot, The Midget. During the mid 1990s the school became concerned that their 80-year-old mascot was not very politically correct and communicated that they were considering a change. [1]NBC's The Today Show even featured a piece on the Little People of America[2] where the organization stated that they were not offended by it, influencing the school to keep their traditional mascot.

I forgot about those vandals that go on homepages and write about the Little People of America okaying use of the nickname Midgets.

It was on The Today Show for crying out loud, I'm sure if you want to look it up, then search for it. You can find it, if you want stone cold proof. Aside from the fact that there are big, bad Wikipedia vandals defending Dickinson High School, most of it has to be true, I'm guessing. I just went with where I remembered reading it.

Back in the nineties, Dickinsons school board started to look into the issue of changing their mascot!  A recall election was promptly called and those in favor of changing the name were thrown out.  It almost tore that school apart..

Dickinson's current school board still has a couple of people who led the recall election still on the board.  It created quite a rucus for awhile in their school and among their parents.

I  believe that colors have some what of an intimidation factor againist teams. I also think red and black are very intimidating together.
