I am assuming Hanstad is out of the running because of his injury. I am also assuming Ledger is out because of the soccer incident.

I gave each school a candidate, being the player that I feel is the best senior.

Who will be the WDA Senior Athlete Of The Year?

Balla45. I think you have to include Ledger and Hanstad as they are the two best senior players.

If Hanstad is eligible to win, he will. I do not know how many games actually have to be played for a person to win. Is Ledger eligible? I am not sure if he is because of the soccer incident. This is why I left them off. If they are eligible, they will win in a landslide. I am just not sure if they are.

If Ledger were ineligable I don't think he would be able to play? There may be different rules. I think the topic is more intersting without those 2 as there is no real clear cut choice. I would probably vote for Wentz as they are not the same without him

Not ineligible from playing per se. It is like kids who get minors can't win Mr. Basketball. I do not know if SAOTY has similar rules about players that get suspended from games.

Go to the tribune website and type in his name if you want to find out. I don't really want to get into it on this website as it does not portray an athlete in a positive light.

I saw the article and you would hope something like this does not affect his chances in winning this award.

Is JR legit. I am not questioning him. I just haven't seen him play and don't know if his buddies are talking him up or if he is actually a player of the year candidate.

He is certainly legit, averaging 19 pts.(shooting 44% from the field) and 5 rebounds a game, but plays for a bad team. I've seen almost every brave game this season and can tell you he is the real deal. I would compare his situation to that of Blake Griffin's, in that he is a great player on a bad team. Many people, me included, think this kid has a chance at playing division 1 ball next year.

If his team is that bad he is probably even better than you are describing.

Gunville is having a very solid year for Belcourt, but let's be real, he's not division 1 material. I could name 10 players from the past 5 years who are easily better than him and never played at that level.

That being said, he is about as deserving as anyone else in this poll for senior athlete of the year. It'd be a real shame if Hanstad didn't get it.

It's very unfortunate that Dickinson couldn't extend their season and give Joe a shot at a state championship, but also to give the record a run....I'm curious if him winning the WDA senior of the year will have any bearing on Mr. Basketball???

I hope he can get Mr. Basketball. He deserves it.
