Which teams do you think benefit the most from their home court? (Student sections, court, overall atmosphere, etc.)

I think Bismarck and Century have the best student sections by far. I think atmosphere in nearly all gyms are adequately even. Overall, I don't think it benefits teams all that much at the high school level. But a little can always change a game.

fargo north by far has the best student section and the back drop behind the hoops makes it very hard to find your shot in the "shultisdome"

St. Mary's, whether the team is amazing, decent, or just plain bad, always has a great cheering section complete with plenty of noise, chants and dress up days.

It's always an adventure playing there

No it's not. You're from St. Mary's.

Saint Mary's is a very loud gym to play in. TheJoker is from Williston.

Matter of opinion I guess. I don't think St. Mary's has anything on other schools.. their student section isn't even big. And dress up days oohhh that's cute.

It usually is pretty cool when the whole student section is dressed up. Especially if it's something clever directed towards the other team.

You guys are missing the BIGGEST home court advantage of all. BHS each year playing in the Civic Center during WDA. Number 2 would be Mandan's Boys at home- I don't think they have lost in 3 years at home.

Mandan lost to Century at home in 2007-2008 on a buzzer beater by Ben Kringstad. They are on a 22 game win streak at home, if I am not mistaken.

Belcourt, Bismarck, Saint Mary's, West Fargo, Minot, Dickinson, Jamestown, Williston, Century, Belcourt, Bismarck, Saint Mary's, Fargo South, Fargo Shanley, Minot, Dickinson, Jamestown, Williston, Century, Belcourt, Bismarck, Saint Mary's.

Looks like that streak was snapped Tuesday when they lost to Minot

It definitely was. Collins missed the potential game winner as time expired.

Another win at the Civic Center for the Demons last night over Mandan. I am not 100% sure on this but estimate that they are 44-2 in the Civic Center since 2005. The only team with a better record in the Civic Center might be Mandan's girls.

I would assume Bismarck's record would be better than Mandan's, because Mandan lost 2 games at state in the Civic Center last year, and I am fairly sure that I remember either Century or Bismarck beating them at the Civic Center since 2005.

I think Mandan girls lost 3 at the CC last year (cant remember a regular season game so maybe 4); at least 2 in 2009, and at least 1 in 2008.

In the amundson era how many wda and state title were won by mandan? 8 wda and 4 state titles is a guess but that would put them at 36 wins and 0 losses.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but during Amundson's last year alone, he for sure lost at least twice at the Civic Center. He lost to BHS during the season, and then to Century for the WDA championship. The year before that (when Finley was a senior) they entered the State tourney as the 2nd seed out of the WDA but went on to win State. They had lost to BHS for the WDA championship.

Since thie thread is boys home court I would say st marys and bhs tie for the best student section but mandan is the toughest place as all the fans get rowdy and are into the game supporting their team

It is more the players who make the gym tough than the fans or the gym itself

But if you are playing in a dead atmosphere it is a little tougher to play with the emotion that sets some teams apart from others. Have you ever been to either GF high gyms? Nobody goes to the games you can hear a pin drop most of the game. The visiting crowd usually out numbers the home crowd.

BHS is a disappointment they always had the best fan section (right behind the hoop) and they would dress up and have the best chants and now they dont do anything
