Bismarck/Century Sophomore Duel.

Postby Schmidty22 » Wed Feb 24, 2010 9:13 am

Century beat Bismarck in sophomore action last night here are some stats:
For Century:

Fraase had 18
Bray had 10
Rhone had 12
Morrell had 14

For Bismarck:
Unruh had 2
Schirado had 9 (couldn't get going with Bray guarding him)
Clairmont had 5 and 5 fouls
Holzer was the only one that could score for BHS.

Overall just a terrible effort by Bismarck High.

Century won the game playing at least 3 players on their jv/varsity roster, that combined for 40 points. Not really impressive or surprising.

ok first the 3 jv/v guys always play a half with the sophs. just like devin if he wants to play some soph so it just like bhs there is no upside there. and half there starts play a half jv all the time so that had nothing to do with it. Also, bhs beat chs at bhs so actually it should be some what impressive. and jaxon and dexter are really good players but so are maund and thunshelle so that would not make a big difference

I was at this game actually, and I was impressed with Centuy's effort and energy they put into pushing the ball on BHS's tough man def. But I thought once Century got ahead a few points Bhs panicked and couldnt get anything to the hoop besides for their one post doing all the work. Also Schirado was ice. But maybe I should applaud century's D for that, I dont know. But solid win for century.

67-52, but Century was up by 20 or more with like 3 or 4 minutes left when they put the B players in.

I guess that is fairly solid. It truly means nothing. The sophomore tournament is where its at. Nice win for Century though. Congrats. :D

It will be interesting to see how it plays out when this class is seniors.

Yes. I think Coyle, Westby, Janz, Marcellais, and Collins run the table.

Thats debatable I think Century with Rhone, Fraase, Bray, Maund, and Thunshelle they get the job done.

Very debatable. Jamestown people also think they will be up there as well. I go with Mandan, simply because they have always dominated that class.

I personally don't see it being very close. This year's sophomores from Mandan won the sophomore tournament as freshmen, and the freshmen tournament as eighth graders, granted Werner was not playing. I have been impressed with Maund, Thunshelle, and Fraase, as have I been with Werner and Fitterer. CHS has a lot of time to improve however, as does BHS. That said, right now if this season was played out, I think Mandan would crush almost all of the WDA teams.
