I'd add Monplaiser(Sp?) to that list from the east.

I think you have to throw Collins in there for Mandan. He will be a sophmore next year and the kid is a total stud.

I don't have a specific order, or even a definate top 10. I would say top 10 on each side:

WDA

Werner, Liggins, Ledger, Hanstad, Fischer, Coyle, Janz, Steinwand, Crosby, Preszler.

EDC

Erickstad, Schulz, Bergeron, Rodenbiker, Montplaisir, Jacobson, Oakland, Lofgren, Farkas, Schock.

Some of these from the EDC are just players that I hear are going to be solid from some coaches in the EDC.

I think all of these players will be all conference. Speculating a little more, I see Dickinson as #1 from the WDA and Shanley as #1 from the EDC.

All State First Team

Hanstad
Rodenbiker
Schulz
Werner
?????

Top 5 returning in EDC in order IMO:
Schultz
Rodenbiker
Jacobson
Erickstad
Lofgren

In WDA:
Hanstad
Werner
Coyle
Liggins
Steinwand

Shanley/Dickinson as early favorites because majority of team returns. On a side note; my Mandan sources tell me Mr. K will be joining Savageau @ Sioux Falls College!

Your sources are correct. Like I said, those of you whom have not seen them play with each other are in for a treat.

How is Ronald Kazane not in there. The kid is the D Wade of our league!!

Can't agree with groundblind's top 5 in EDC with Farkas in there.....overrated IMO!

I could easily replace Farkas with Begeron, but I like the way Farkas runs his team. He manages their team well. Hoops, Kazane has great ability, but he is always in foul trouble in limited minutes and his turnovers per minute played are probably highest in the state.

Replace with Bergeron in top 5? Come on, get serious. He is a nice player but too many turnovers & poor free throw shooter. Something he needs to work on as he gets to line often. Jacobson is top 5 easily, no question about it. Best talent & most upside in EDC/WDA along with Joe Hanstad obviously. Needs to get stronger but ceiling is higher than any freshman in North Dakota in quite sometime.

You mean in 2 years? (since Hanstad was a freshman)

I'm confused as to how high his ceiling is. Is he a high major D1 player? Using freshmen years only, Savageau had a very high ceiling, as did Schreiner, Coyle, Werner, Hanstad, etc.

I guess I shouldn't hype the kid too much as it can certainly backfire and he is just a freshman, I've done plenty of scouting though over the years and for being only a freshman this kid really stands out. His game is really very similar to Hanstad's as a freshman. About same size at 6'2" and strength is mid range game. Deceiving 1st step so can take defenders off the dribble. Excellent free throw shooter and ball handler and solid defender. Is only freshman yet offense is run through him a ton.

Like I said, is still just a freshman but what really sets him apart from names you metioned is that as a freshman he is a far more accomplished shooter & scorer than the others were and one can easily sence a
composure & extremely high bball IQ well beyond his years.

So yes, D1 talent for certain. Time will tell if he is major D1 talent. If he has the work ethic of a Hanstad he certainly can get there.....

comparing hanstad-jacobson as freshmen,i think hanstad was head and shoulders above where jacobson is at. jacobson is a great player and will continue to get better. wouldnt be surprsied to see him play D1.

bergeron is pretty overrated IMO. i think he will struggle tremendously without nik in the backcourt with him next year.

schultz is a stud on both ends of the floor

justin ledger and andre maund. maund does not get the playing time that he deserves though, so its hard to compare him to others. ledger is easily one of the best players on the century squad this year

have you seen Farkas dribble with his left hand??!! if you cut off his right hand he would starve to death. so overrated.

i was a little surprised with how schultz played in the tournament. i wasnt sure what went through his head but im guessing he was just trying to be unselfish because those games were the last the seniors on his team would ever play and im sure he respected them a lot since he played the year before with them. That really affected how he played. he got a little lazy and somewhat passive. i expect great things out of him next year and to lead his team to state.

Top 10 edc players: (no order)
Rodenbiker
Schultz
Okland
Erickstad
Jacobson
Schock
Dunn
Lofgren
Bergeron
Farkas

Top WDA players
Werner
Hanstad
Liggins
Coyle
Ledger
Fischer
Janz
Steinwand
Crosby
Preszler

Great point. The Nick Schlutz most of you saw at the state tourney wasnt the same Nick Schultz that played all year. He will be back next year and lead them.
I also think Farkas is extremely overrated.
