I was watching the news a few weeks back and saw that Solemsaas got the victory on the mound in a hard fought game.  Next day I was at the community bowl watching the same person score (or help) about 24 points in a track meet.  I also recall that he was an outstanding RB, speed and power.

jake landry from Grand forks central was 1st team all state in football (goin to UND to play QB), All EDC basketball, and is considered one of the best pitchers in the state for baseball. Hate him or love him, the guy is one heck of an athlete

ya catlin solum from fargo south is another exceptional athlete. As a junior hes already a 2 time all state football, 2 years varsity basketball, played varsity baseball as a 9th grader, started for the state winning legion team, and is one of the fastest kids in the state.

mertens is a good athlete....but he is ARGUABLY the best basketball player and in no way the best wide receiver.....both luetz and savegeau are more skilled....

there is no way that leutz is more skilled than mertens. faster maybe, but i saw him drop a few this year, and there were quite a few times where the QB would throw it and it would be almost a jump ball, and leutz looked like he didnt care if he came down with it.

mertens is by far a better WR than leutz.

savageau is the best...he had over 1000 yards...mertens is 2..and leutz is somewhere below, because most of his yards came off routes where he just burned his guy on a hail mary with his amazing speed

I got to see Century play twice and Leutz caught six or seven post routes.  Ball was thrown on his break so they weren't bombs.  I don't recall any drops.  I am surprised he din't break any long plays after watching him on the track.

Leutz is maybe not a burner. but he's no slow poke either. think he ran like a 11.05 in the 100

id say evan savaegeau from south is the top athlete, i saw him play all the time this year...he was the best receiver in the state with over 1,000 yards, which is unheard of for one player...many teams dont even pass for that much in one season...he was all-state in basketball and probably one of the best shooters in the state...he also had a tremendous vertical, does he do anything in the spring??? im sure he would be a great high jumper......

what about sigl? he made some pretty amazing catches this last year. he may not have had outstanding numbers, but bhs has so many weapons and isn't a passing team. i'd take him over luetz and mertens.
