Some freshmen and sophomores that I think could have an impact on their varsity squads this year. There are many other talented athletes in these grades, but these seem to have the most likely chance to make major contributions in the upcoming season.

Sophomores

Anderson, Logan - Jamestown
Bolinske, Ben - Minot
Feeney, Dalton - Bismarck Century
Hanson, Braedan - Grand Forks Red River
Hoeg, Kade - Fargo North
Lund, Braydon - Minot
Zarak, Carson - Wahpeton

Freshmen

Dahlen, Zach - Devil's Lake
Mertens, Jacob - Devil's Lake
Moody, Aanen - Dickinson
Mussman, Jack - Grand Forks Central

I'm from out of state and don't get to see these kids play, Balla45, so now that the season is two-thirds over, who would you say the top 5 freshmen are in Class A at this point? Top 5 sophs?

I am only using kids who are seeing major minutes.

Sophomores.

Ben Bolinske - Minot
Dalton Feeney - Bismarck Century
Breadan Hanson - Grand Forks Red River
Braydon Lund - Minot
Carson Zarak - Wahpeton

Logan Anderson has been the next best guy.

Freshmen.

Zach Dahlen.
Jacob Mertens.
Aanen Moody.
Siman Sem.
Austin Slaughter.

Almost no freshmen are getting minutes this season.

Moody and Mertens have stood out from the pack as far as varsity contributions.

Thanks for the insight, balla.

Sophomore Logan Anderson has been a pretty big contributor to Jamestown (who Balla45 noted, he does get significant minutes and solid scorer). Also Landyn Keplin from TMCHS/Belcourt is a sophomore starting point guard who last I saw was leading the WDA in assists and has had some solid scoring games. An argument could be made that either or both of those two could be in the top 5 also.

Good call on Keplin. Forgot to mention him.

Another sophomore from Jamestown who broke the starting line up for the last 11 games is Noah Wanzek . His stats- 9.4 pts/5 boards in last 11 games. Season averages - 8 pts/5 boards/ 52% shooting and 22 minutes in 16 games.

Agreed, he came on very strong. Also was pretty impressed with Friesz from Mandan.
