Does anyone have, or know where you can get, all the scores from the freshman boys tourn. in Bismarck and the soph. boys tourn. in Fargo over the weekend?

I'm frustrated by the lack of info on the EDC website for teams other than varsity. Here are the scores and the winners that I wrote down when I attended the sophomore boys basketball tournament last weekend:

Friday, March 1
Fargo Shanley (W-79) vs Fargo South (L-52)

Saturday, March 2
Fargo Shanley (W-61) vs Grand Forks RR (L-45)
Fargo Shanley (L-68) vs West Fargo (W-71)

FINAL RANKINGS
1st - West Fargo
2nd - Fargo Shanley
3rd - Fargo Davies
4th - Grand Forks Red River
5th - Wahpeton
6th - Fargo North

I'm not sure how the Fargo South vs Devils Lake came out.

Make that two of us that wish there were information on the EDC website pertaining to the JV, Soph., and Freshmen teams. I suppose it's a matter of not having the manpower to do it.

I heard the guy that runs the EDC site wanted a decent chunk of extra cash just enter a couple scores so now the coaches email each other the results from the soph/jv games and one of them puts it up online as the results roll in.

The refs in the Minot game should read this article.

A bismarck player had the ball and swung is arms and his elbow caught a Minot player in the chin. There some kind of foul that was called. Minot should have gotten 2 free throws and the ball. Instead Minot got two free throws and Bismarck got the ball. After that, Bismarck got a 2 pointer. That was basically a 4 point swing, and a momentum changer. I was in attendance and everybody, including the Mandan fans sitting next to me, were yelling.
That moment was probably the loudest the game got all night.

Question: Did the elbow look to be intentionally thrown into the opposing player's face? OR was it just accidental?? Cause I've seen both scenarios called differently...

It looked intentional to me. Noah Bosh was the one that got hit. He broke his nose earlier this season. Coincidence that he is the one to get hit? I don't think so.

It did not look intentional to me, and I was about 20 feet from the play. It was also Dylan Werner, who is the farthest thing from a dirty player. I do think it was a coincidence that Noah was the play who happened to get hit. Unfortunate, but not dirty or intentional. There are a few players in the WDA who have made some nasty plays over the course of the season, but Werner is not one of them.

It is an automatic intentional foul, as the elbow contact occured above the shoulders. I heard the official say multiple times, point of interruption, which would be when Dylan had the ball. I am not sure if that is the correct call, but they seemed confident that it was, and I am not 100% sure, but I will check the rulebook later. However, if it is a point of interruption intentional foul, Bismarck should have received the ball back.

#1 Every scenario that I've looked at, an intentional foul cannot be committed by the offensive player.

#2 Intentional, flagrent, and technical fouls are all awarded 2 free throws AND the ball to the offended team.

If it didn't even look intentional. I think it should have been a flagrent 1, because it didn't look excessive. Which still awards the ball to Minot.

b. Examples of illegal contact above the shoulders and resulting penalties.
1. Contact with a stationary elbow may be incidental or a common foul.
2. An elbow in movement but not excessive should be an intentional foul.
3. A moving elbow that is excessive can be either an intentional foul or flagrant personal foul.

any way you look at it, they all have the same consequences.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 656AAqL0tO

The point of interruption has nothing to do with the play, it is just the position of the ball when the whistle blew.

Swinging elbows and making contact above the shoulders is an automatic intentional per point of emphasis this year. To explain this more simply however, you NEVER keep the ball in high school when you commit a foul. In college and the nba if a technical is called the team keeps the ball, but not in high school.

Yes, it's a point of emphasis this year. The same thing happened to AJ Jacobson in their last home game against RR and in their semifinal game against Davies David Olson got called for it. Any contact with an elbow above the head is 2 shots and the ball, regardless of whether or not the player did it on purpose. Even if the were just swinging the ball from one side to the other in an attempt to get by the defender and caught him by accident, it's automatic this year.
