You are forgetting the fact that most of GFC and some other EDC were hit by the flu bug right before and during the state meet.

West Fargo probably won't be up near the front anymore...the runners they have returning will need to step it up if they want to be top 3 at EDCs; but it is possible. Right now 1 & 2 looks to be GFC and Shanley-OG

as far as the edc, maybe not all that great...

you got shanley, central, red river and south all competing with west fargo next year. central's returning 5 was all under 17.45 at state last year, shanley's under 18.30, and red river's under 18.50. also keep in mind that both grand forks schools got hit by the flu pretty badly the week of state. right now for the edc id say

1. Central. top 5 at state (harlow, fisher, shafer, alex and andrew torrey) are all returners.
2. Shanley. good depth there and 2 pretty strong leaders with the naylors.
3. Red River. mendee and francois leading the team with a group of young guys following a ways back.
then it will likely be wf, followed by south, north, wahpeton and devils lake.

The whole state was hit with sickness at state, not just GF schools

You've got the EDC looking like this right now on paper:

1. GF Central
2. Shanley-OG
3. Fargo North (they just need one more runner to come out from their co-op with Kindred)
4. Fargo South
5. Red River (they could be #4 also...it is kind of a toss-up right now)
6. West Fargo
7. Valley City (they have to move back to Class A next year and they could be anywhere from #4-#7...its too hard to tell right now with them)
8. Wahpeton/Devils Lake

(?? Does Davies start running varsity next year or in 2011??)

I'm pretty sure that Davies varsity starts next year, and if they do, goodbye any hope for south cross next year.

Very true, Very true! If Davies does start next season than the rankings would shift like this:
1. GF Central
2. Shanley-Oak Grove
3. Fargo North
4. Red River
5. West Fargo
6. Valley City
7. Davies
8. Fargo South
9. Devils Lake/Wahpeton

That can't even be considered a good argument. GFC was not the only school who had sick athletes take Bismarcks Lane Kashur for example. The were people sick all across the state.

Believe me, I know he was sick, I ran with him alot of the race..............
Anyway, he didn't even score points. The majority of kids that scored were, in fact, healthy.

After seeing track and looking back at results, I'm seeing that it will be very hard to de-throne Bismarck this year in guys. The only team I see having a chance would be Central, but they need a strong fifth leg. They have the first four legs pretty solid. Overall, I see this state meet being very fast, even though it's at Jamestown. 14 out of the top 22 (almost 2/3) of last year's state meet are coming back, almost all of them as seniors. Right around 16:38 there was a huge log-jam of juniors, so there is a definite possibly of 10 runners under 16:20 this coming season, if not more. Williston looks like they have a solid trio of Shaffer, Donnelly, and Chamberlain. Century has Sether coming back. Shanley/OG has both Naylor's. Central is returning everybody except for the eldest Torrey. West Fargo graduated Gehrig and Uetz and brings back some freshman and sophomores that showed promise in track. Red River has Mendee and Francios Bismarck graduated alot of kids: Barnes, Weist, Hintz... yet they'll still have a really strong team led by sophomore Leingang. This season is going to be fun to watch, just because there is so many fast kids coming back.

Class B boys, Ken Wells from Parshall is going to dominate this season and should win state pretty handily.

Exactly, bismarck is gonna take it this year, they have less depth than last year, but their top 5 is still solid, too solid to be beat

Class A Boys:

1. Bismarck, their top 5 could all get hurt and sick the night before state and they would still be a tough contender.

2. Williston, they seem to have gotten stronger throughout track.

3. Century, only lost Brett Kelly and they have some strong young guys.

4. Central, I predict that they fall apart after a strong start to the season. They do have a very strong team though and always seem to be better than expected so 2-4 is all realistic.

5. Red River, yeah I know its sort of a surprise, but look how much they jumped last year from the year before just from a new coach. Oh yeah and they only lost their No. 3 but they have a strong supporting cast.
