Shanley and South should both fair well out of the EDC. Don't be surprised to see West Fargo compete with the top teams in the East, they were young last year.

St. Mary's should win state. There is no other way around it. Knowing the St. Mary's soccer program they will probably get to the final and lose or they will get to the semi-finals and choke.

I am going to say that South will win it...We'll see if my prediction comes true at the end of the season. Formersoccerplayer, I agree wholeheartedly...until Mueller steps down, St. Mary's could have all the talent in the world and not win a state championship.

It's the same for boys and girls. The last 10 years St. Mary's has had enough talent to win state a handful of times between the boys and girls teams, yet they fall short. So many things wrong. Tactics for one.

I heard Tim Mueller retired from St. Mary's boys soccer and that Joe Mueller wasn't going to take over. It will be interesting to see where St. Mary's goes from here for both boys and girls.

Well if the snow doesn't melt soon we may only be able to talk about a soccer season :? How frustrating.

It's extremely frustrating. I was looking forward to watching some games.

Does anyone who has some inside knowledge know how the NDHSAA, the schools, and the teams are going to approach this season?

Patriots are looking strong in their undefeated season. A victorous win over St. Marys supports the facts that Century will reign.

I'd agree, then I looked at South's titles this year. Wait...

Football (2nd)
Tennis (2nd)
Soccer (ranked 1st, took 3rd)
Wrestling (2nd)
Hockey (Ranked 1st, low 20s in the nation, took 4th)
Girls BB (Ranked 1st, low 20s in the nation, took 2nd)

A very talented but underachieving year for South athletics all around. Probably one of their more athletic groups to come around and can't pull anything off. Red River and Bismarck seem to be their problematic area too. (Bismarck in Football/Wrestling/Girls BB, RR in Tennis/Hockey)

South may need a miracle come June.

Which sadly ended last night, but a lost will only make them stronger and better.

This is girls soccer not football, tennis, soccer, wrestling, hockey, or girls bb, all squatch said was that south should be the team to beat the other sports dont have to do with this so that was pointless

Wow all of a sudden the west is a mess. Minot could win the west if they beat St. Mary's and Bismarck this next week. They are a very young team that is coming together at the right time. They beat Bismarck earlier in the season in Bismarck and lost to St. Mary's in the last few minutes in Bismarck also. The last two games are in Minot. Should be interesting.

Obviously it's hard to tell without the crossovers, but who do you think is better - east or west? or equal?

The one thing I have always loved about socccer is that young players can come in and have an impact fairly quickly as compared to baseball, football or basketball. That always makes for interesting surprises every year in soccer. I don't know who is better between the east and west. East teams have dominated for a long time but there is alot of young talent in the west that will make for interesting games. I don't think I want to make any calls as the flip side to younger players is they can also hit a brick wall in a game that doesn't happen to more experienced players.
