State Rank Em'

I don't know how to rank class A at this point. I can't find the WDA standings and the EDC is wacky. With the exception of Central, the standings are pretty tight with Shanley on top at 4-0. North beat pre-season favorite Red River and then lost 3-0 to Shanley and South. Shanley vs. Red River next week should be interesting.

The EDC is ineresting with the top 4 teams but if I had to rank I would:
1. Century
2. Shanley
3. RR
4. BHS
5. South/Dickinson

I would say North is still in the running, though i'm not sure where. The only problem they have is finishing games. They were ahead in mostly all of their games against Shanley and South, then blew the lead. Against Red River they took the lead early and finished. Once they can finish games they will be really good. Plus they have some young players that will gain experience over the course of the season.

In general the east is weak compared to the west. Hazen and Kenmare would be at the top of the class at this time of the season. In the east Langdon and Central Cass would be the top based on tournament play over the last two week. Lisbon will be around at the end, with a girl who can hit like the Olson girl you always have a chance, same for Hatton-Northwood. With VB it depends on what team shows up.

I don't know what the deal is with North. They are hard to figure out. It also seems like they have a different lineup every game I've watched them. They are probably the biggest hitting team in the state, and they are probably one of the worst teams defensively.

I watched Hazen and Kenmare play this weekend in the Semi-finals of the Laker Invite and Its hard to not believe they are not 1 & 2 in the State. I sure hope they both can make it to State and play again in a 5 game match, because I think everyone who hasn't seen them play will get treated to an outstanding match.

Hazen and Kenmare are the top two and then it is up in the air. Have seen most of these teams play, Lisbon would not be in the top ten. Region 1 should come down to C Cass and Wyndmere. With VB you just don't know what team will show up on that given night.

i think BHS should be reconsidered in these top fives.
they beat North in the fargo invite for first place in two games.
they also beat RR in that tournament AND the beat west. all those teams have been placed in the top five but bismarck is just getting an honorable mention???
the also have defeated century twice this year. once in a tournament and once is 4 games in the WDA regular season.
they are first in the WDA and really coming along nicely.

Where do you see that BHS is only getting an honorable mention? no one has even talked about class A in weeks....

There is no state media poll for volleyball.

Can anyone tell me why there isn't a state poll for volleyball?? There seems to be for everything else.

Just a guess here, but when is the last time you saw a reporter from a major (daily) state newspaper at a regular season VB match? It's hard to have a poll when the media basically ignores the sport as compared to other sports. Too bad for VB, its a great game and fun to watch but most people don't get the "little" things that go on in a match. Maybe when we get more 2nd/3rd generation players things will change and VB will get the recognition it deserves.

well Class A games tend to get recognized...Class B teams don't (unless they are within the larger cities).

If that game got coverage it's because Oak Grove always gets coverage... it's in Fargo. :)
