I can see a Region 1 vs. Region 4 state championship game. Big games this Thursday to see who gets a shot at state!

I wouldnt discount Region 8. Stanley is tough. Top three teams in tourney will come out of Region 1, 4, and 8. Everyone else is playing for fourth place!

Don't overlook Region 8.

It'll be Region 8 vs. Region 4 & Region 6 vs. Region 1 in the semifinals

I am going to take Midkota over Central Cass for the title but I think Midkota will have all they can handle with Stanley in that game. They will have to be able to handle Stanley's serving which I think they can do. After that I think they match up with Central Cass height very well.

Anyone want to rank the teams on how good they are and not based on how they may finish? I really have no idea how good any of the teams are.

Here is my two cents!

These three are way above the others in talent level and probably three of the top five in the state.
1 Midkota
2. Central Cass
3. Stanley

These two are decent teams, probably in the lower half of the top ten in the state.
4. Kenmare
5. Linton-HMB

These three are products of very weak regions.
6. Beulah
7. Grant County
8. Hatton-Northwood

Season tourneys are hard to judge...especially if this game came later in the tourney (after 3 or 4 other games).

Midkota beat Central Cass in a Valley City tournament were RIGHT before that match Central Cass played Kindred in one of their typical hard fought matches so might have been little worn out. Don't know if that makes a difference?

I think it does...however it changes things for both teams. Hard to guage how the matchup will be when both teams come in fresh for the match.

It might make a little bit of difference, but yes it is hard to gauge it when it was only best of 3 instead of 5.

Midkota played Carrington in that same semi-final round in V.C.. Midkota beat C.C., Carrington beat Kindred for 3rd? I would think both teams went into final in the same physical/mental state, JMO.

Heck of a game...but HORRIBLE HORRIBLE call to end the game!!! The ball was clearly out by 4 or 5 inches and the ref calls it in to end the game when she was standing RIGHT ON TOP OF THE CALL!...just unbelievable...a game like this should NOT have ended on a call like that..just really a shame. Next time consult with the main judge when so much is on the line and you dont know WHAT TO CALL! Horrible....

And one more thing I have to vent on...never been to a state tournament before, but really a dumb setup in the dome! This game was in the 5th set very very close...and over the loudspeaker is the starting lineups for the class A game in the middle of a point!!! and the points after!! That is just really ridiculous..at least wait for a TO or when the game is over which it shortly was within 3 minutes of that! Just a really dumb idea to have two games going on at once with just a curtains seperating the two games...ndhsaa should really get together and change it! ok im' done venting now... I hope somebody agrees with me on one or both issues. Thanks..

They do the same thing with a curtain separating the games at the Minot Dome... Just unfortunate timing :? Same thing could have happened with a timeout buzzer from the Class A game in the middle of a key point.

I hate to be a dissenting opinion here, as it would have irritated me as well, but the fifth set may have gone 27-25 without a timeout... can't just wait indefinitely to start a match with fans, refs, and workers waiting on the other half of the arena :(

I was there...straight in line with the call--the ball was in. It hit the line--it was the Right call.

I will agree with you on your second part of your post though...I don't know why they were doing the lineups at that time.

I was also sitting right at the line and no...it was the WRONG CALL! If it hit the line I wouldnt have said anything. It did not hit the line...ask anyone that was sitting there besides you! which i doubt you were anyway, but still, quit backing the refs for once please on this site.

What makes you think I back the refs on this site...I've questioned many calls at sporting events. To tell you the truth...the call would have stayed even if they had consulted with the main ref. The main ref is out of position to see that exactly where that ball landed...that call is the line judges call. I understand that you are upset over the call...but its over and done with and all I can say is Midkota needs to put it behind them and come out and dominate Linton tomorrow. I have NO doubt in my mind that Midkota will be back at State next year and will dominate since they don't lose much.
