Posted: Tue Feb 21, 2006 4:51 amA few upsets were from Ryan Heisler of CC... He was the #5 seed. He defeated the #4 seed, Jeremy Kuntz (Former state champion) in the quarterfinals, the #1 seed, Kellan Zietz, in the Semi-Finals, and then defeated AW's Cody Deile in the championship match!
The Mellmer/Ballard match was somewhat of an upset.
Cody Erz from Minot made the finals as the #7 seeded wrestler before falling to State Wins Leader John Basting, GFRR.
#3 seeded Heath Roberts of VGMS was an Undefeated State Champion last year. He was defeated by Seth Lura (#2 seed from Carrington) in the Semi-finals. He was then defeated in the wrestlebacks by freshman Andrew Grothman from Hillsboro, and then in the 5-6 place match he was defeated again.
Seth Lura #2 seed also beat top ranked Taylor Grunefelder of Napoleon.
