Their only real loss is Lucas Kelly but he suffered through arm problems most of the season. They were underclassman dominated talent wise and some Freshman/Sophomores will contribute more consistently this year then some of the outgoing seniors. Midway was Babe Ruth League champs on their own when the seniors were in their last year at that level.
As far as names...
Nathan Linstad
Philip Schanilec
Sammy Gonzalez
Rodney Martinez
Kevin Tibert
Nick Schmitz
Cole Fossum
Ben Schanilec
Felix Contreras
Justin Stoltman
Lucas Mondry
The big question mark is if Gabe Garza of Midway returns with his family from Texas for the season or if he stays in Texas until the summer. He was a Class 5A All-District player in Texas despite missing the last month of the season there last year when they moved north. He will be a 4 year starter at SS for MM if he returns and likely the region player of the year.

How does that work that a kid can go to Texas during the winter, and come here during the spring? Also, if all these are good baseball players, I assume they have athletic ability. Where were they during basketball since all the talk was that Schanilec had no help.

cubsfan wrote:Thats a pretty bold statement. Lucas Kelly did a lot for the team. Who else do they have for pitching besides Nathan Linstad?

The question was what do they return, so I listed names. Not all of these guys are All-State quality baseball players. Most of them are pretty good baseball players but not necessarily basketball. Midway on their own won with this group 4 straight 12U league titles (same league as Grafton and Langdon), 2 league babe ruth titles, and 1 state BR runner up (with Manvel).
Tibert plays hockey for Grafton but would have made a huge difference with basketball being 6'5 and really athletic. Very similar to a Brandon Chrest build and athleticism but faster runner. almost as fast as Schanilec. Fossum only plays football and baseball (not really a Basketball player build). Gonzalez and Martinez come back from Texas like Garza. Gonzalez was all region last year on the mound as a Jr. I expect Martinez to make a big impact as a Soph this year. Good power hitter. Has the potential to be an all region player this year. Nick Schmitz is a solid hitter and should also make an impact now as a Soph.
Philip Schanilec will be their #3 pitcher. Had an era of around 0.9 in legion 2 years ago in around 30 innings. But because of arm issues he is usually just relief and closer.
It is no different then any new student moving into the district with their parents. Practice the minimum days required by the state before the first game and you are eligible. The parents move north in the spring for field work and then head south at the completion of harvest. Kids travel with the parents when they move and begin school in the fall through October and return around April 1. Its not like open enrollment where you float around with every school. These kids have been their since at least 3rd grade ever year and in the summers playing summer ball.

Fossum and Schmitz did not play last year. You also forgot about Knoepfle and Vaudrin.
