Pitching Rules

Is it 12 innings or 3 appearances, which ever comes first? For the tournament.
or
Does it have to be in consecutive days for the the 12 innings to take place.
Reason I ask, the Region 3, tournament started on Friday. The kid pitched 7 innings, now since Monday and Tuesday were canceled, he can come back on Wednesday with rest. But how many innings does he have left? 5 innings or does he gain all his innings back since it wasn't in consecutive days?
