I don't think you can get a better draw than the host team.

Of course, I don't know how good Milbank was this year.

I never thought of if that way. I just assume they are the worst team. Now if they're like 51-4 and got upset, this could be horrible draw.

Milbank has a good program and usually produces some good teams. I believe LaMoure played them last year in a tournament and won 1-0. Im sure it will be a close game but think LaMoure can compete with anyone when Watkins or Dunn are on the mound will be interesting to see how they do.

That is just for Class A or Division I level teams. All class B programs have the option of declaring they would like to be Class A before the season if they want to compete at that level to reach the World Series.

Ottawa went 43-0 in the regular season. They outscored their opponents 43-8 in the state tournament. The fact that LaMoure beat them has to be the biggest upset of that whole tournament, because now LaMoure is one win away from the championship game.

Faith Lutheran defeated Ottawa 15-7 to advance to Sunday.

LaMoure plays at 7:30pm tonight against Ripon. If they defeat Ripon they must be defeated twice Sunday.

LaMoure lost 10-0 to RIpon WI in 6 innings. Rippon will play Faith Lutheran NV to see who will play LaMoure in the championship tomorrow.

Valley New Live says Lamoure beat Faith-Las Vegas, NV 9-3. I'm confused as to what is going on.

IIRC Minot made it to the finals in 2001 w/Phil Shirek. Its maybe happened since then. Class B teams never advanced past the state tournaments except maybe the last 5-7(?) years.

Congrats to LaMoure on a great run and representing the state well. Watch out for Mr Dunn again next year LaMoure could be back in the state championship for the fifth year in a row.

No one has gotten farther then Minot since. Dickinson got the closest this year making it to the final 4 of the Regional.

The champion and runner up from Class B used to challenge into the State Class A tournament in the early 90's. Munich with Justin Fletschock and Marty McDonald, etc... made a run winning their first 2 games in the Class A state. Not sure the exact year it started but Class B teams then attended the DII regional until 1996 when the state champion Grafton had an incident that got the ND champion banned from attending again for a few years. I believe it was in 2004 when Hope/Page won their first title and advanced the first year ND was reinstated.

Its too bad because there were some teams during that time that could have made some big noise like Lamoure this year. 1998 Hope/Page with Justin Burchill and Kory Klubben had great offense and pitching. 2000 Midway-Minto with Brett Narloch, David Skogen, David Schneck, and Ezra Branvold beat state runner up Munich 6 times during the season. 2002 Thompson had a loaded team with Dusty Robinson, Matt Chandler, and Travis Boespflug. Just a couple of examples off the top of my head.

Also... The Class A and B Regionals are two completely different things. Only the Class A advances to the World Series. The Regional for Class B is the end of the road.
