Enderlin is the Section 1 winners. they will play Velva the 1st game. They beat Fairmout-Hankinson in the 2nd game 12 to 1 in 5 innings. Fairmount-Hankinson won the first game Sunday 8 to 0.

How come legion doesn't follow the same format as babe ruth with the host team getting an automatic bid to the state tourney? you'd think with the loss of a lot of teams in some of these sections (one only had 4 teams total) they could reduce the sections down to 7 and give the host team a place.

I don't see how it's fair that a team gets an automatic bid to state just because they play in a field nice enough to host the tourney.

Put it this way. Say Jack Brown in Jamestwon hosted the tourney. The Jamestown 16-17 yr old team was in our section and was never seeded higher then 5th in the sectional tourney in my 4 years playing against them...now is it fair that they get an automatic spot in the state tourney because they play their games on a nice field??

I agree that it isn't that fair that a team gets an automatic berth, but I was just wondering why it's done that way in babe ruth and not in legion. You'd think they'd try to keep the same format for both and same sections, etc. Are there fewer babe ruth teams than legion? I also don't think it's fair that some teams need to get through an 8 team tourney to qualify for state while others only have to get through a 4 team tourney. How many more games does that team have to win compared to a team that takes that championship in a 4 team tourney?
