i've heard around the school that lorenz might go to nebraska, minnesota, or some northern iowa school, those are the d1s, then theres some d2 schools interested, and a lot of jucos, like iowa western, boone, indian hills i think its called, sounds like nebraska is accually pretty interested in him

That doesn't surprise me. If you have as big as frame as he does you're gonna get alot of looks. You don't even have to be that great either. Those teams can take a frame like that and make u a good pitcher. It's just the way it is, scouts look for bigger players. I'm not sure how tall lorenz is but i think he's around 6''8'' or so.

in between 6'6 and 6'7, but yea, great point bison, bigger kids will get more looks by colleges, its just the mentality of todays scouts, for pitchers that is

ok im just curious how hard does lorenz throw??  i saw him twice and i've heard 90....he threw alright but i dont think that hard......i think people underestimate how fast 90 really is.

Well he was clocked at 87 in mandan at the camp there. With a little long toss and some change in mechanics, 90 is in reach.

i believe he was clocked at 91 or 92 down at wayne state or some college like that, it was a camp anyways, and he threw pretty well down at indian hills and nebraska camps from what i hear, 90 is very fast, but sometimes fast looks slower, and slower is really fast, hope that makes a little sense

hes sayin for the on deck circle to the batters box.  It could look slower from on deck then it does at the plate and vice versa.

to me it always seems slower in the box than it does from the dugout or ondeck circle

if your release point is 2 feet closer to the plate than the next, same speeds but the pitch will seem faster because you see it less.

that was the difference between lorenz and buxa last year.  they threw close to the same speed lorenz his just a foot taller so hes alot closer to the plate when he releases the ball.

well, that would mean its faster, because pitch speed is technically measured by speed from release to the plate, so it accually would be faster, it wouldnt be the same pitch speed

I have known many scouts that use the stop watch method and it's very accurate if you know how to do it, but, obviously, radar guns are more trusted.

A.K. Klinske was clocked at 87 @ a tryout camp in Mandan in July, so was Lorenz from Harvey.

Klinske can throw hard no doubt, but sometimes when you as big as he is, the batter is already beat menatlly cause he is scared. I've face A.K a few times since Pee Wee leagues and had some success but the kid is really good. When we faced him this season, he was pitching on two days rest. I hate to face him on a full five or six days rest. Thing is though, if you only have a fastball, you are going to get beat in high school. Unless you throw like 95 or higher.
