Class B Senior Athlete

Postby hornetfan » Mon May 22, 2006 7:38 am

Anyone have any thoughts on who should get Class B Senior Athlete? Harvey has some great prospects with Volk, Buxa and Frantz. I think that Volk should get it. Unofficial stats are .467 batting average, 25 plus stolen bases. Buxa is also in a close running with a high batting average and a great pitching arm. Should be a great regional tourney in Harvey this week.

you can't just nominate 3 seniors from your team just like that, even before your team hasnt even gotten out of regionals yet

Region 7 Senior Athlete will be between Jordan Huettl (Bishop ryan) and McHale Maristuen(Trinity Christian), with Huettl having the advantage.

i wouldn't be surprised if nobody from Thompson won the senior athlete award, but i probably wouldn't put $100 down on it.

there are a few good seniors around the region.... Frye and Rakowski from Mayport, although thier team didn't make it to the region tourney i don't know if that counts for much of anything. CV-H has a decent pitcher in Casey Sundeen but he is not the best at the dish. Hatton-Northwood has a pretty solid player in Voigt who flashes the glove every now and then and makes extremely good contact at the plate. Thompson has a couple of players that would have a good chance of receiving the award. Zach Kvidt is always a threat at the plate with his speed and batting skills. then there is Wurtz, who i am not so sure can win it with all his baggage from the past, he deserves the award leading the team in almost all offensive categories. I would have to say if Wurtz doesn't receive it then it would be either Voigt or Kvidt.

i believe the senior award is for a senior over four years has showed himself to be a top baseball player on the field and off.  That doesn't out of school but during practice and in the dugout being a leader by example.

If its just for one season the award shouldn't be called senior athlete but player of the year.

I dont know what they look for in it, but i hope its the one I talked about first.

hint hint....name sounds like the pic to the left...

Zack Schaefer from Langdon took it for Region 4.  He had an under 1 and batted over .400.

schaefer has a 0.61 ERA, so that would be right...

Yup, I meant ERA, just forgot to type it.  He also threw back-to-back no hitters which helped his cause.

Where'd you hear 0.61, rep?
