If everybody knows a little bit about the teams, go ahead and list some info about the teams. Also let's hear some predictions.

Being from Velva originally, I try to follow as much as I can. I have not seen them play but from what I have read it sounds as though they have pitching depth and timely plays on both sides of the game. Not to mention the tradition in Velva they could be the team to win it. A lot of quality in other teams too though so they will have their work cut out for them on their road. Good Luck to all teams.

Ryan has last year's State Tourney MVP, Brooks Backes. He'll play for Minot State next year. Prior to regionals, Clay Kallias pitched 29 innings, 4-0 record, 0.54 ERA, 53 K's, 9 walks, bats .500, 4 HR's. He was also on the 2007 State Tourney all-star team, pitched the semifinal, and was on the 2007 Legion Class A state champ team. He is Region 7's baseball Senior Athlete of the Year. I bet he'll throw against Steele.

Velva's ace is Trenton Bruner: 5-0, 0.75 ERA, 39 K's and 10 walks; and he's their top hitter: .478, 7 extra base hits. Ty Bruner, Josh Weidler, and Jon Mack are hitting over .400.

Central Valley-Hillsboro: Tom Riske, .370, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, 21 RBIs; Matt Schmitt, .351; Jake Olsen, .345.

Pitching; Schmitt, 5-0, 3.09 ERA, 29 Ks, Jake Olsen, 4-1, 4.60 ERA, 29 Ks.

Valiants rely heavily on solid pitching and good defense. When they play D they are really tough. When they kick the ball around they don't have the offense to compensate. A bunch of good pitchers but no shutdown ace. They would do well in a double elimination format where their pitching depth would show, but in a do or die format like at state an ace could take them out.

Best thing this team has going for it is that it knows how to play under pressure. They took out perennial favorite Thompson in the region semi, then beat Hatton-Northwood twice after getting bombed 15-3 in the first game of the best-of-3 final. Came back in the top of the 7th in each of the next two games with 2-run rallies to win by indentical 5-4 scores.

So wuts the beat on Lamoure? Wut are their threats for pitching and on the offensive side of the ball as well?

I don't know much. Ben Wadkins pitches and seems to do well at the plate. He pitched the regional final. They're 17-6 with losses to Kindred, split 4 games with Central Cass, split 2 with Jamestown, and 4-2 vs. FSHP. Their average score is a 4.2-2.5 win. They won Class B State for Legion last summer.

Steele-Dawson's average score is a 7-3.5 win.
