Postby GRIDIRON GURU » Wed May 21, 2008 7:27 am

Awesome job on the region and State pairings thanks!

I have to make a clarificaton, the 1994 state championhip was won by Tolna, not Dakota Prairie, The school district had consolidated, but the schools where still independent with their sports teams. Tolna also won the state championship in 1966, 1975 and had a second place finish in 1984. Dakota Prairie has not won a state championship of any kind.

I got Grafton, Munich-Starkweather-Cando, Bishop Ryan, and Lamoure winning the first day. Dakota Prairie, Hillsboro-Central Valley winning the consolation games and Grafton and Lamoure winning the night session. I have Steele-Dawson winning the seventh place game, Hillsboro-Central Valley winning the fifth place game, Bishop Ryan winning the third place game, and Lamoure winning the state title.

If LaMoure can pitch their #1 vs. Ryan's #2, that might even be likely. All I've thought about are LaMoure and Ryan winning their first round games and Ryan might have the best odds of taking the title, weather cooperating (see: Steele last year).

what do you mean see steele last year? they took 4th and the way i took your post is that Ryan has the best chance to win if they win the first round like steele did last year? did i misunderstand or what are you trying to say?

as for the LaMoure 1 vs Ryan 2....i doubt Ryan will throw Backes against steele. i dont see why they would...there offense is far less intimidating has its been in the past years and although balanced in pitching they lack a pitcher to come in a shut a team down.

The weather didn't cooperate with Steele last year.

I was saying maybe they're the favorite, period. I don't know enough to make a solid pick.

1 ryan, defending their title
2 velva, breaking their 3-year losing streak in the semifinals
3 dakota prairie
4 lamoure, best finish in awhile if not ever for DP & LMM
5 munich, no repeat championship game appearance
6 steele, lowest placement in years if not ever
7 grafton, 1 less state win than last year
8 cv/h, 1st state experience for the players

I had to make wild guesses for the final round.

I wish the NDSHAA would do this, a guy out-of-state blowing away what they do. Tho, they are much improved over last year, made regionals fairly easy to do. I don't know if I'll do as many midgame updates today. I'll be on the road during Saturday's games.

Bismarck Tribune puts final scores on their front page on their website after each game ends, forgot all about them doing that last year. It's under Breaking News. [Well, they aren't today, but NDHSAA is!!!]

You have got to be kidding me....Kliniske didn't even throw his kid in the first round, and they got it handed to them.....Last time I checked you have to win the first one to win the State Championship....Wow, but not to suprising I guess.

I'm hoping DP wins, sick of the Ryan fan's and their bench clearing everytime they score a single run.

You would prefer that they do what when they score. You must be joking. How could you complain about something like that?

Sit back and do what everyone else does, not show-boat when you are up by 5 runs in a game.

Yeah, come on, it's not like they should be proud of being on a state championship team for two years in a row.

maybe it would look better if they just sat on the bench and acted like that run doesn't mean anything, i think that just shows how good of a team ryan really is...most good teams do that to show that they want to win a game not just be bodys and do nothing the whole game, lol im glad they won tonight because their one of the only true class b baseball teams in this state, after seeing some of those teams play, wow

So a team that pulls its student population from a city of 35000+ is the "only true class B baseball team in this state"? WOW. I'm guessing that teams like Velva, Munich, Steele, Thompson, etc. etc. would strongly disagree with you.

pretty sure that schools like velva have the same amount of kids that ryan does...they dont have a large enrollment such as minot high
