In region 1, LLM and FSHP split a pair on Monday. In both games, the winner rallied in the 7th and came from behind. LLM won the first game in extra innings. They play one game on Tuesday to decide who goes to state.

I heard that Rolette-Rolla defeated Munich yesterday in Region 5 and then Munich eliminated Bottineau in the loser out. I don't have scores yet. Munich needs to win twice today to avoid missing state, which would be a surprise out of this region.

story i heard was steele lost the game way more then washburn won it. up 1 with 2 outs nobody on in the top of the 7th, walk, error, single its a tie game. then again with the bases loaded in the 10th with a 3-0 count and they strike out.

what do teams have for arms left? i assume steele will be throwing Martin with Six in relief? Randalls arm is pretty sore i guess after having the longest outing of his life. does Kaul have anything left?

Lamoure/LM defeated Hope Page/FS in their rubber matchup of the 3 game series to advance to the state tourney. I believe the score was 5-3 with Lamoure scoring 5 in the first inning.

Steele-Dawson beats Washburn-Wilton-Center to win rgn 8. Tied 3-3 top of 7th, W-W-C can't score and S-D scores in bottom to win. Hats off to W-W-C for hanging in there and battling hard. With the loss of one senior look for W-W-C to be in the hunt for state title in '09. Congrats to Steele-Dawson-Napoleon.

first of all it was 9-9 in the 7th haha....most lopsised back and forth game ive seen. steele up 3-0 after 2. 3-2 after 3. washburn up 9-3 after 4. tied 9-9 after 5. steele wins 10-9 in the 7th....crazy.

CV-Hillsboro outta Region 2. won 5-4.
this game was actually lost by hatton-northwood, rather than won by CV-H.
3 runs came on a throwing error in the first, and another on a throwing error in the 7th.
But CV-H headed to Jamestown, nonetheless

Munich beat R-R twice today to win Region 5. Don't have the exact scores but I heard the first game was a blowout and the second game was of the 6-2 variety.

Edit: GF Herald had the 1st game's score as 14-1. 2nd game was indeed 6-2. They also have yesterday's 1st game score as 13-2 with the 2nd game 18-8. I guess quality pitching was optional in this tourney.

CV-H made two big errors in the bottom of the 2nd that also assisted HN.

The errors helped CV-H, but the umps did too... Pladson was pitching great, ball was right over the heart of the plate, and he failed to call strikes. Too bad umps killed HN rather than the other team...

Well when you throw as soft as pladson was, the pitches come in on an arc. so when the catcher catches it, it looks great, but when it crosses the the batter it is neck high, which is a ball. Love excuses.

I laugh everytime i seea curveball get caught right over the middle of the plate belt high and the parents complaing about it not being a strike haha. if its caught belt high over hte middle of the plate its more than likely high and inside.....

Same could be said for Schmitt's curveball. He threw some beautiful curves that appeared to drop right over the plate that were called balls as well. It all evens out.

As for errors and giving away runs, how many of the 15 that HN had in Monday's first game were giveaways? You could make a case that every run HN had in that game was handed to them either by errors or misjudged fly balls.

My point is that breaks - be it calls, errors, whatever - are part of the game. Officials have to make judgements, kids commit errors or miss shots or miss tackles or drop balls or make a base running mistake or.....well, you get the picture.
