Danny Haugen from LaMoure is a pretty good ump, i'd take him into consideration as a top ump.

Any ump that has a strike zone that is knees to letters and is lenient on the corners.  This will eliminate the games called due to darkness...;)

My second choice is the "hometown ump". You know the guy in blue jeans, t-shirt and cap that a coach takes out of the stands to fill in.

I agree.  Some people don't always like his zone, but he's always consistent which is the biggest thing you ask for with an ump.

Last year at state Jordan didn't like one of his ball/strike calls and let Perius know about it (it was hard not to notice).

I guess I remember hearing about that now. I think someone said he was chewing out the ump after the game. I think he had like 3 walks in that last inning, one of them walking in the game-tying run and a wild pitch for the game-winner.

Pretty good pitcher though, but had really bad temper......
