2 for 3/4 ;) Pretty good games today. Kindred and Velva was a classic pitchers dual, with Velva coming through. IMO, Kindred has the best pitcher in the tournament. MayPort and Harvey was a different game with two evenly matched teams battling it out, with Mayport coming out on top after Harvey gave up 5 unearned in the first inning.

Grafton and Beulah was 1-1 in to the 5th when Grafton had a big inning.

Carrington vs. L&C was another pitchers dual. Both Austin Lee (L&C) and The sophomore Braxton Hewitt from Carrington threw great games. In the end Carrington picked up a couple unearned runs and that was enough for the 2-0 victory.

Great day of baseball.

I was looking and did some quick figuring of enrollments with coops and so forth but it looks like Regions 1,3,4,and 8 are all the largest school in that region and Regions 2,5, 6, and 7 are second highest enrollments and some these are just a few kids from being largest enrollments. It looks like baseball are for large enrollments and larger towns I guess this figures they have best summer programs and participation for baseball. Most of the schools represented here are largest schools in class b or are that way when you add in cooping towns. Its hard for smaller school compete when summer programs are not readily available and our short springs makes it hard to develop kids and teach them baseball knowledge but I am sure seeing real drop off in smaller schools for kids that want to play baseball. I don't know if its the game or how theres such wide divide among these schools playing that kids just don't want to go out get beat every time. I thought last summer when largest towns moved to separate division in legion a lot of smaller towns seemed to like playing with more equals and they had chance at post season play than prior years. Also then they would get chance to compete against the larger town to go to regionals but larger towns hated the travel and they didn't schedule any of smaller towns to play in their area. I think this will be very good state tournament my guess winner of Grafton and Carrington game will be state champion but I could be wrong but both these teams are deep and talented.

I was close, but couldn't come up with three. Three real good games one was a "interesting game"

I don't necessarily think it's bigger towns with more kids it's really the quality spring program coupled with quality summer programs. Also if you Notice most of these towns go to the "bigger" tourneys and play against the tough competition. I think most of the teams at state played in the enderlin/casselton tourney or the carrington jamboree.

Getting back to topic....

Friday held a couple good games.

Kindred dominated Harvey from start to finish. Kindred is definitely one of the best teams here, that just didn't come to play on day one. They will have their hands full today with Beulah.

Beulah vs. L&C was easily the most entertaining game of the tournament thus far. L&C had their chances to win, but in the end Beulah came through in the 12th inning to seal the deal.

Mayport and Velva was a good game between two evenly matched teams. To me, these are your "Cinderella Story" teams of the tournament. MayPort continues to hit the ball well.

Carrington and Grafton was a great game. Grafton is easily the most talented team in this tournament, but Carrington came to play in this one. Smith threw a gem for Carrington keeping the Grafton hitters off balance all night. The Carrington bats cranked out 14 hits. Aside from a couple base running snafu's Carrington played a great game on both sides of the ball.

Today's games should not disappoint as there are some good match ups. Overall, the coaches did a good job of seeding the tournament, the games just didn't go that way. Day two was another great day of baseball.
