Basketball is over and now its time to turn our attention to baseball. I was wondering how various regions stack up this year and who the favorite teams are. I will comment about region III and Region IV these are the regions I most familiar with. Region IV I believe that Park River and Grafton have to be the favorites this year in high school baseball. St. Thomas I believe will be young and will not have horses to compete, Langdon will not have enough pitching and it will be very young and looks like several of their players haven't gone out for the high school season, North Border I hear will be very young team, and Midway-minto lacks the depth to make strong run at the region. Region III is very interesting region in that all 6 teams have much of same teams they had last year because there were very few seniors in the region last year. Midkota has to be favorite again with strong pitching and most of the team returning from last year;
Carrington is next they return very good team from last year with exception of Freeman and they should have most depth any team in region for pitching; the next 3 teams are all fairly even and on given day they could beat anyone in the region if they get good pitching New Rockford last year was near top in the region
and had Seth Gillis a very good pitcher so they could contend all depends how rest of team performs, Dakota Prairie has some good talent in John Lund and Gavin Tweed along with several other players they should be in mix for the region, Lakota-Edmore was the fifth place team last year but made nice showing in the regional tournament last year and I would think if they get full season in this year they also could be in the mix in the region. Medina was last in the region and has long way to go to build the program but they were much better last year than they were year before so they might upset somebody to change the regional mix this year. I don't know how these region compare to other regions my guess would be somewhere in middle of the pack with other regions having more of large class a legion teams in those regions. Some of my other guesses of teams I have saw last year to have good year are Thompson, Lamoure, Delacs Burlington, Enderlin, and several of the western teams.
