ridiculous, just let all 10 go and don't have regions. Some teams are going to have two very long road trips (regions and state).

Class A started with 12 teams (6 in the east, 6 in the west), but with Devils Lake not competing at tournaments, there were only 11 teams left.

Why didn't DL compete at tourneys?

Beulah player ejected midway through Game 9 for inappropriate comments made on Twitter regarding an opposing player's family.

The ump was checking Twitter in between innings?

My assumption is it was by the Tournament Director...the player is ejected from rest of tourney. There was discussion to remove Beulah from the Tourney but in the end it was only the player who made the comment.

He was kicked out because of a post on an anonymous twitter account. The post had #beulah #statelegion on it so the class A rep said that was enough evidence to show it was a Beulah player. I think anyone could put that on twitter but he wouldn't listen. He said it was his decision and that unless someone else stepped up that our guy would be out for the rest of the tourney. He is the Official Rulebook

Beulah ND CONDUCT - RULE 7
D. During a Department Tournament - Any player, coach or manager ejected from a game by an umpire for unsportsmanlike conduct will be suspended for the remainder of that tournament unless he is re-instated by the Tournament Umpire-in-Chief, the Tournament Manager, and the Department Athletic Committee Representative in charge of the tournament.

Post Responsible for Players Conduct - All posts will be held responsible for the conduct of their players during the baseball season and during tournament play. It is strongly urged that the Team Manager or another adult be in the dugout at all times.

E. Bench Decorum – Chatter is a baseball tradition and positive language directed at your team mates is encouraged. However, language directed at opposing players or coaches in a negative or derogatory manner will not be tolerated. The penalty for “bench jockeying” will be ejection from the game for the offending player or players if identified by game officials. Failure to control this behavior after umpire warning could result in the ejection of coaches or managers as deemed necessary by the umpiring crew.

SEEMS like there was no umpire warning just ejected from game ... and Beulah does have a Bench coach so good future recommendation is collect the players cell phones during the game Coaches and problem is solved

Completely, 100%, Absolutely, Positively agree with this. Allowing cell phones in the dugout is right up there with the stupidest things I've ever heard. And saying that they have to post game updates is just no excuse. There are apps that automatically post game updates and do bookkeeping for free or under $10.

Both A and B got done with two double elimination tourneys and then its a one game play off to go to the MWP? Should be two out of three.

Changing the subject a bit, but how is it that Wahpeton is big enough to support a competitive junior legion team, but not big enough to compete at AA? Wahpeton competed just fine in Class A for years when there were just two classes and were the state champs at that level as recently as 1996. It appears to me that they are having their cake and eating it too. All teams go through years where they are very good and not so good - those cycles shouldn't dictate that there be more classes. Clearly Wahpeton competed very well in Class A last year and would have done even better this year.

Let's get back to two classes - there is no need for a third class in North Dakota and some teams need to struggle it up and play with the big boys.

Agreed 100%...With so few teams, no way did we need 3 classes. I think Cali only has two classes, but we Need three in ND? C'mon man,,,,

Agree go back to two ... maybe the State Legion group can get the plaques to the Sectional tourneys than
(no awards to give out at Makoti and not sure if they have arrived yet)

I'm not really sure this solved much. I guess more teams get to go to a state tournament, but ultimately there's really one state champ. Winning a state title is obviously a huge deal, but the goal is to get to that regional tournament.

I thought season went well for legion baseball the biggest difficulty was getting schedules done with the new regions and teams in the new regions. I keep hearing some smaller class b towns just struggle it up and try to compete but what we have been seeing there's getting fewer and fewer of them each year. The State Class B tournament was well attended and a lot of new towns were at state tournament that haven't been ever or haven't in years. I heard a lot from these towns kids and parents they enjoyed experience and you can't help think this is going to help in getting kids to continue playing baseball and create interest in playing baseball. I heard kids from high school teams saying after watching they are going to go out next year for legion baseball. The Class A division in past have been teams representing various regions I would guess 60 to 70% of time in last 10 years in state tournament. They are towns with numbers and programs to be competitive year out and year in. Kids are different today they want see some reward if they compete and if they don't they move on to something different. Look at some of Class A teams you are hearing same complaints that smaller towns were talking about they have hard time competing and some schools should be at different level. Class A division will hone pretty good teams to play on most of the time but it gives class b town chance to compete at there level and chance to beat class A team if they are good enough to go on. A thought would be like they used to do back in 60 and 70's is winning team from b was able to add couple players from other class b teams to help give them extra depth and talent at certain positions to complete with larger A teams.
