Region 8

Beulah has number one seed locked up
Hazen plays Beulah Friday. If Hazen wins, they are #2 followed by Washburn then Shiloh. If Hazen loses they are #4 with Washburn and Shiloh #2 and #3 respectively. If Kidder County beats Shiloh (on Friday I think) then Shiloh will be #4 and Hazen #3 with Washburn #2. Kidder County is #5 and Hettinger #6 I believe.

Region tournament starts Monday in Washburn.

Seriously? They're having a regional tournament on a field without a grass infield?

Cando doesn't have grass either. No big deal

Washburn got a grass infield 2 or 3 years ago. They don't have lights though, so it makes for a lot of missing school for some kids.

I forgot about Cando too. Yes it's a big deal. If you don't have a nice field you don't deserve to have a region tournament. It should be played on the nicest field in the region.

A few of the regions reward the highest seed to host the tournament. So just because their field doesn't stand up to others shouldn't matter. It rewards the work of he team for the season and gives them the home field advantage they earned. Also Tolna is hosting Region 3's tournament and I know Cando is hosting their high school region and legion section this summer.

It a lot of times rotates too. Last year the Region 6 tournament was in Garrison and they don't have a grass infield.

And then some regions "rotate" with not everyone involved in the rotation. I have no problem with having the highest seed host the tournament.

So if it doesn't matter, explain why whatever region Bishop Ryan is in always has it in Minot.

The NDHSAA doesn't have a set way that baseball regionals are set up (Actually they don't even require a regional tournament, they just require each region to send a representative to state.) How the regions determine a champion and where the "tournament" is played is up to individual regions.

Washburn actually has a very nice grass infield. Lights are in the works but they are very expensive to get but they are being looked at.

Seems that Hazen has established themselves in the Region with their win over Shiloh. It should be an exciting tournament with them two and Beulah as a dark horse.

Kidder has number 1 seed now after beating hazen 7 to 6. This region tourney will be one to watch with all four teams being a threat

Wow, how does Colby Metzger NOT get SAOY in this region? He is arguably the best pitcher in the state, and had to have been close to leading the region in BA. The coaches of this region really dropped the ball (pun intended). Or was it that his coach didn't nominate him? Which would be an even bigger joke.

It's my understanding Metzger was not nominated for SAOY by his coaches. Also coming into the regional he was hitting slightly under 300. I agree he is a tremendous pitcher, very smart and crafty.

under .300? That surprises me. He hit the crap out of the ball when I watched him.

Kolby's teammate Nate Leintz won the award. Hit over .400 and anchored the second place Bison's defense at Short. Also had a 1. Something ERA.

Ah. Lientz sounds deserving and I know he's a good player.
