Fargo Bombers (26-7ish, 14-1 vs. ND Junior Legion) have to be the favorites, but at times poor defense has cost them and in a good pitching perfermance by an opposing pitcher it could cost them in tournament play

Confused - It looks like that Minot and Mandan are the top two seeds by braket, or don't they seed this tournament?

sounds like the host team (Mandan) gets to CHOOSE the bracket for the tourney...which is stupid (look at the seeds below and then look at the bracket...something just doesn't seem right there).

If it were by seeds it would look something like this:
#1 Fargo
#2 Grand Forks
#3 West Fargo
#4 Minot
#5 Mandan
#6 Dickinson

**Fargo Bombers already move onto Regionals automatically because they host it...

Rumors that I have heard is that Mandan recieved the #1 seed because they host and set the bracket themselves, then, Minot recieved a bye in the first round because they won the Junior Legion state tournament last year, after that the other four teams were placed by Mandan

Looks like you were right ndakotasports94...Fargo has played like the favorites...winning 10-0 (F/5), 10-1 and 19-2 (F/5).

Key thing to note is that since the Fargo Bombers are in the Title game...the 1st and 2nd place teams move on to the Regionals (Fargo hosts)

Mandan must have played better than they've played during the season...hope to see them represent well at the Mid-State Regional as the North Dakota representative.

Forgive my ignorance--is Legion and Jr. Legion comparable to varsity and jr. varsity, or what's the differentiation? Thanks.

It kinda seems like it...Class A Junior Legion teams used to compete in the Class B legion during the summer...but then the teams all had to form into 'Junior Legion' a few years ago.

ndakotasports94 might be able to fill us in more on that and your question...he seems to know more in this area.

I'm pretty sure legion is for kids 19 and under. Jr. legion is for kids 16 and under. So kids that are on your jr legion team are your future legion program but it's not totally a JV team where you can stick a bad older kid on it.

Back in the day (10-12 years ago) when the Jr. legion teams competed in class b they were 16 and younger. I believe that to still be true.

Legion is for kids that didn't turn 19 before the first of the year. So if you were 18 or younger on 1/1/11 you are eligible to play this summer.
