I know it is a little early to start thinking about summer ball, since there hasn't even been a spring game yet, but what are people's thoughts on this summer's teams?  They should be different with college kids coming back and some not choosing to play.  Any ideas?

I would expect Minot to donminate the west again. They will bring back alot of good kids. As for the state i would say Fargo and Minot maybe Grand Forks.

What about Bismarck?  They'll return Timmy Jallen, Josh Standing Elk, and possibly Dan Eichele from college.  They will also return Matt Kranzler, Cody Erhardt, Torey Bohan, Clark Dingeman, and Brandon Solemsaas.  Plus they'll have some pretty good new comers also, such as Zach Wentz and a few others.

Guys, I really do not think that the topic you guys are talking about is relevant at all to this forum, or at least the manner which you speak about it. This is a forum to talk about legion baseball, not other things.

Well I talked to Jallen in January and talked to my legion coaches and they said he's coming back.

Im sure Minot and Bismarck will be the top teams from the west.   Fargo and possibly Grand Forks will be the best from the east.

What about Mandan?  We qualified for the state tournament last year and only two of our players  are not eligible to return (Ibach and Janz).  Our catcher (Jungling) is playing college baseball at UND, one of our top pitchers and best athletes is eligible to come back from college (Schnell), and another one of our pitchers is playing college baseball at UMary (Baskerville).  Add all of that up and consider the fact that we had a very respectable showing at the Central Plains Regional we hosted last summer, we may make some noise this summer.

Mandan could be a contender, I feel the thing that will make them contenders is Schnell and whether he plays or not, I do not know of any reason he wouldn't. He is the heart of that team.

Bismarck & Fargo will be the teams to beat.  Minot, unlike the past few years, looks very beatable.

Minot has been very beatable, except for 2003 for as long as i can remember...And also, i don't believe Bismarck will be the team to beat either...Mainly becase they lost a few key players and they didn't really impress me last year

Bismarck took 2nd last year I think they have Jallen, Standing Elk, and Eichele back.  Maybe some others too and they also have some pretty good young kids coming up.
But I think Fargo will be the main team to beat.

I think Fargo is hands-down the team to beat.  Just look at the high school teams they get their players from.

Fargo South is #1 and Fargo North is #2 or 3 in the east.

Also if hennessy can return (not sur eif he can), then i'd look to williston for a strong season as well.

Unfortunately, Mandan will only return Jungling.  Schnell and Baskerville won't be coming back.  So it will be this years varsity plus Jungling.  Although not returning Schnell will hurt them, I doubt if it will make Mandan a push-over.  They will be solid competition.

Mandan should be decent.  Yeah that does really hurt them with Schnell not coming back, I thought he would.

Every year its Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot at the top.  They have the biggest towns and the most kids.   and every year a smaller town or 2 will sneak in there because they have a good class. (dickinson, mandan, jamestown)

I believe fargo will be the top dog.  they always seem to get into that title game, which they should with all those schools combining for the summer.

Grand Forks schools Red River and Central combined were one win short of .500 against the 3 Fargo schools in 16 EDC games this season (7-9).  Does that make Fargo dominent?  I'd say its a toss up between GF and Fargo in the east.

Fargo is always good and has a lot of top players from last year so I say they are the team to beat.  They also won state.

I saw him hitting and throwing last night, and overheard some Mandan guys talking about him deciding to play...they sounded pretty excited cus he will help the team a lot.
