Minot High has just recieved a pitcher from Florida. Demitry Zafra 16 years 2014 6'1ft 190Ibs. Low 3/4 arm slot. Hit 89 during pitching session up in Minot, fastball moves like a lefty's. Major league circle change, he is able to break it down to the left or right of the plate Mixed in with a slurve and newly developed splitter. Was verbally commited to Virgina but uncommitted upon arrival to North Dakota. Kids the real deal.
The magicians have a goood chance at states witht this accusation.

Hmmm that's interesting. 1 pitcher won't win state for them but that would help.

He sure is taking a lot of the load off of Minots Chandler Jacob back. Their is no doubt this kid can shut down fargo davies and bismarck. and yes I have seen him pitch numerous times.

A lot of good pitchers should be seen this season...we will see in late May who fared the best...just remember some days quality pitching looks worse when the defense has a collectively bad day and makes innings drag out, and you can't strike 'em all out....good luck to all the pitchers this season!

arguably the best senior pitcher in the state has a no hitter going through 5 innings. coach goes way down the pitching depth chart for 6th/7th inning. 5 runs later, you lose the game. good call coach.

That is baseball at times and seriously, no coach deliberately puts a pitcher on the mound to lose a game...it is a team game.

Why take Quinlan out after 5 innings, especially with a no hitter going? Don't you let the kid have a chance at a complete game no hitter and more importantly lead his team to a win?

Funny how in TV report the coach says he throws 84 to 86 and others say 89. Sure he is a great pitcher but hard to win state on one pitchers arm he can't pitch every inning Minot plays.

The reason you take a kid out DESPITE the score or number of hits...pitch count and preserving his arm early in the season, nobody should really care about the complete game or a HS baseball win when the other choice is to damage a kid's arm and possible future at the next level. The best thing to do is just give him credit for a great performance and say, great job young man!

People make too big a deal out of pitch count. In a 7 seven inning game, especially the first 5 innings, theres no way he threw enough to hurt himself. Plus although it's early in the season, these kids have been inside so long that they've bullpened a lot and are in shape.

Sorry, but that is a naive statement...pitch count is important. As far as 5 innings...saw a kid with over 100 pitches in 5 innings, in a 1-0 ball game. Quality at bats, walks, errors, etc can drive a pitchers count up fast. Again, it is about the pitcher's health, not a win, that is utmost important.

Zafra is 2-5 and can't get the ball over the plate to save his life.
