can't see how it could be anyone other than Horner - he's a threat to score every time he touches the ball, and about a third of the time he does!  amazing

i believe horner had 5 tds on 300 yards. that puts him at like 800 yards and 15 tds. anybody else in the state putting up numbers even remotely close?

is he that good or is he surrounded by that much more talent than other teams' players?

I would imagine that he has some crazy good blockers, if anyone has enough blocking they can put up some good stats

id have to agree but when he gets beyond 5-10 yards, he's on his own. this being said, he's got moves and he can run. he's putting up solum-esque numbers without the protection solum had.

he makes people miss - he has shify moves, has great speed, and a knack for finding the holes - both on rushing and on kick returns.  he does have a good line to run behind, but south's line is nowhere near last years giants, their whole line is first year varsity players with the exception of their tight end

souths line is solid. It is much different from last year, this line is unbelievably fast rather than huge. they hit their blocks hard and give horner a chance to run out in the open and do his thing

I totally agree they might not have the size but they do have a lot of speed. Back to Josh Horner though..

Anybody agree Josh Horner is better than Solum?

josh is the best high school player in the state this year. He is so much stronger and faster than the defense that its not even fair.

he doesn't deserve to be put in that category yet... maybe next year but he is not even the best player on his own team.... people like elgie, ingmenson, gowan, horner, haugaberg, richter and the list goes on they all deserve to be mentioned in this topic but if you ask me to be considered one of the best players in the state as a junior you need to dominate game alot like senger and solum did... schwab doesn't dominate games

It's plain and simple Josh Horner could get five yards a play with almost any line in the state he is so strong and has such great vision it's not even fair

Think he'll get Mr. Football? Danny Wurden was the best player by a good margin in Hockey last year, and he didn't get Mr. Hockey.

First off pepsi it's gatorade and secondly horner will win it hands down the only reason danny wurden didn't win it is cuz he barely graduated his gpa was so low.

I think you have to look at Horner first, and what people dont talk about is hes a GREAT returner probably one of the best the state has seen, was given a award at Souix camp this summer for special teams.

But I'm suprized no one has mentioned Elgie, who I havent seen this year but has been one of the best football players in state for 2 years, plays both ways and his team has won a lot of games last 3 with him on the field and key on off and def.  Last year in playoffs he had a very strong run and had double digit tackles in the champ game where I was surprized minot stayed close as they did to south.
