Nathan Mertens looked like a Pop Warner football player, while attempting to tackle the Bismarck High running back and full back. MAYBE second team, not first.

One or two games doesn't define your whole season. Maybe he performed better against the other teams he faced. I'm sure many players had issues tackling some of the Bismarck players this year...

IMO, All-State selections should be based off of how a player performs against the high caliber teams, though. For example, the West Fargo RB, had 100+ yards against the Bismarck defense. I will attempt to upload an awesome youtube video ASAP.

I agree with you to an extent, however, you also have to think, how would some of the BHS kids you believe should have been all state done against BHS? In your opinion, what time is high caliber, other than BHS? The BHS kids do not have to play BHS, so I don't like this part of your argument.

For North Dakota AAA, high caliber in 2012 was Bismarck High, Fargo South, West Fargo and century. Every team in the state had two or more opportunities to play a high caliber team. I may have over stated earlier, but I would like to see effort from a player on the first team. There is up close film of athletes on that list that were scared to tackle players, as if they were back in the midget football days. I can honestly say that Nick Goulet, Brennan Fetch and Lee Braunagel would come at anybody in the state with 100 percent effort. They would not stick an arm out and turn their head the other way, like some of these selected athletes did.

so i have been hearing alot of rumors about johs going to ohio st and passing up the opportunity of going to ndsu, all i can say if true, that this kid is nuts if he thinks he is going to play even in 2,3, 4 years any meaningful time. I also saw on the ndsu "bisonville" message board that people claim he was badmouthing ndsu on his twitter page for being only a fcs school. If he is going to osu for the education they have to offer than thats' a differant story good luck to him, but if it's to play ball also ha ha good luck, like i said it' all seems to be rumors but the people that told me this are pretty reliable.

He does not plan on playing football anywhere besides NDSU or UND. If he goes out of state, it is for educational purposes only.
