East Playoff Picture

It looks like Red River and Devils Lake are in for sure and that South, Davies, and G.F. Central have a shot at the other two seeds. Has anybody taken the time to figure out the different possibilities depending on this week's games?

According to the NDHSAA Website (http://www.ndhsaa.org/files/1112_FB_AAA_Standings.pdf) GF Red River, Devils Lake and Fargo South have clinched Playoff berths. I thought about the scenarios...basically everyone still has some sort of shot to get in.

Basically its a mess right now!

This is what I believe it looks like...

Devils Lake Clinches #1 Seed with a win.
GF Red River clinches #1 Seed with a win and a DL loss.
Fargo South can clinch the #1 Seed with a win and a DL loss (because they would have beaten DL and GFRR this season)...so therefore in this scenario the three seeds would be: #1 South, #2 DL, #3 GFRR.

I believe Fargo Davies is in at #4 with a win @ DL.
GF Central gets the #4 Seed if they win and Davies loses.
If Fargo Davies loses and West Fargo wins there becomes a four-way tie at 2-4 in the league (Davies, WF, North and GFC). I'm not sure how this is determined...I believe its by point differential.

If that scenario is determined by Point Differential...it would look something like this:
**GFC still has to play West Fargo on Tuesday night.**
North +9
WF +1
GFC -4
Davies -6

Therefore, IF WF wins by 9 points or more they receive the #4 Seed; IF WF wins by 8 points they become tied with Fargo North and WF receives the #4 Seed by head-to-head tiebreaker (I think); IF WF wins by 7 points or less, Fargo North receives the #4 Seed.

IF GFC wins by 14 points or more (17 being max.) then GFC receives the #4 Seed; IF GFC wins by 13 points then GFC and North become tied and GFC receives the #4 Seed by head-to-head tiebreaker (again..I think); IF GFC wins by 12 points or less then Fargo North receives the #4 Seed.

SO by this scenario...Fargo Davies has no way to make the playoffs...they NEED TO WIN @ DL to make the playoffs.

just a bit messy...if you ask me!

If I'm wrong somewhere...let me know...I tried to use the NDHSAA website to figure some things out.

Boy, I'm glad I didn't try to figure that one out! Had no idea that all 7 teams still have an outside shot at the playoffs. Adds even more interest to this week's games. Thanks for taking the time to figure that jigsaw puzzle out.

No Problem! What makes things interesting is that Fargo Davies plays at Devils Lake on Tuesday night...all the other games are on Wednesday night. So if Davies does lose then it plays into an exciting Wednesday night...if Davies wins the climatic Wednesday night goes 'down the drain'.

I haven't seen any of the teams play this year, but from what I've read it almost seems like any of the East teams could beat any of the other East teams on any given night; i.e., they seem to be pretty evenly matched. What's your observation, Run4Fun, and have you seen any of the teams play?

After all EDC games from Tuesday & Wednesday...

Devils Lake 49 Fargo Davies 28
GF Red River 14 Fargo South 7
West Fargo 19 GF Central 8

Devils Lake CLINCHED the #1 Seed
GF Red River CLINCHED the #2 Seed
Fargo South CLINCHED the #3 Seed

If Fargo Davies loses and West Fargo wins there becomes a four-way tie at 2-4 in the league (Davies, WF, North and GFC). I'm not sure how this is determined...Records against tied teams.

it looks something like this:
Davies 2-1
WF 2-1
North 1-2
GFC 1-2

So therefore...Fargo Davies receives the #4 Seed via head-to-head tiebreaker over West Fargo (defeated 41-35 2OTs earlier this year)

What I got from Dom Izzo's twitter is that if West Fargo wins, Davies makes the playoffs but if Central wins they are in.

I think Wf won this so Davies makes the playoffs. Not sure how that works.

Run, Did you ever figure out the tie breaker and how Davies got in?
