you also have to look at the teams some of these guys run against. The kids running against the east teams have it a little easier i think. Better quality teams in the west

Saucesauer wrote:Johs hands down, there shouldn't even be a debate there! I think the real question is who is the second best back in the state and Westby is really making it look like it isn't even a contest. Honestly from what I saw Minots best player isn't even a running back its their QB, it looked like when he stepped up he threw the ball strong and prevented a lot of sacks by moving and getting rid of the ball. Too bad his line couldn't give him a little more time.

I agree.

Seeing a kid named Ricky Purtle that we've never heard of before run for 200+ yards against Mandan shows that anybody can run behind BHS's dominant line. I think this should prove that Westby is the best running back in the state. He makes plays without that good of a line and Johs has a great line that would make any running back look good.

I disagree with you. Ricky Purtle had 47 rushing attempts. Layne has not come close to that amount.

The opinions of most value come from those who actually strapped on a helmet and stepped onto the field. Question: You have a hole to fill, which running back are you most happy is not coming at you through that hole?

Westby and Johs would be tough to stop in the hole. They are fast and strong, I could miss or get trucked neither sounds like fun. Kraft just trucks, Minot backs it is one or the other, Saintal is just miss.

Regardless as a former DB I grab an ankle and hold on for dear life.

Wild Wolves, you crack me up. I like your honesty. It sounds like you have experience with each of those scenarios. Hopefully your team mates were good at persuit while you were being dragged by some beast across the field. There have been some real brutes and lightning bugs that played football in ND. I think the kids being talked about in this thread really measure up.

Layne Johs proved without a doubt last night who the best running back in AAA is.

you cant prove anything in one night. especially when the other 12 teams in the AAA werent playing so all you could do is compare the one teams back to the other. look, mandan wasnt in the game yet there are many people who would pick him over johs.

there are alot of good RB in the state no doubt about that and everyone points out the ones from really good teams what about the backs on teams that aren't so good

Johs is back and so is Purtle. So is Saintal and Cherwenski (sorry about the spelling). Century will have at least one of their big backs returning. Don't know Gust or Lampert???
