If both backs had the same quaterback, the same offensive line, and the same defense to run against, I believe that Miller would out do Smith.

millers stats last night was 9 carries for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns.. not bad. For the season he has 79 carries for 967 yards. 12.2 yards per carry. 18 total touchdowns

Smith carried 19 times for 299 yards and 5 TDs. So Miller averaged about 20 yards per carry and a TD every 3 carries. Smith averaged 15 yards per carry and a TD every 4 carries. I think both of their yards per carry stats are limited by where their offense gets the ball :)

the best way to compare these two will be the mon-dak bowl if both are selected, which i am almost positive both will be

Football does not go by class A and class B. Smith led AAA in running last year as well. I think these are both terrific running backs and NDSU should give Miller a scholarship also.

They are both playing in the Badlands Bowl - will be interesting to see who does better against the Montana boys.....

Gibson is the coach for team ND (I think the Helena coach is head for team MT)

in that case i believe that miller will have the better game... think about it he has been a tailback in that offense for 3 years ... he knows it in and out and knows all the reads and different things he can do on every single play. By no means am i saying he is better or worse then smith, i think its an unfair comparison but i believe that jake will have a better game based on the fact that he knows that offense.... who is going to play linemen in that game? i really think north dakota has a shot this year, a lot of really good players will be playing for ND

I'm not sure whether this has already been discussed in a different thread, but both Smith and Miller will be playing as true freshmen this year, which is a very nice accomplishment. At UND, the last two North Dakotans to play as true freshmen were Weston Dressler and Jim Kleinsasser, so Miller is in good company, as I'm sure is Smith at NDSU.
