Front runner North star-Good QB and wide out combination

then fighting for playoff spots TGU-good athelets and always a contender, st.john-returning a few big kids and a all-stater. MLS always seem to always be in the playoffs.

Kennmare and surrey could have a chance to make a run.

Then benson county and F/W and dunsieth. drake also

Who is replacing Slater at QB for St. John this year? He was tough and left big shoes to fill.

Suprising First week in Region 3. North Star and Benson County, not seen as title contenders had good weeks. North Star looks like the team to beat after squeeking by St. JOhn and dominating MLS. BC dominated SJ for 3 quarters it sounds like and were able to escape with a win. After one week, here are the standings:

North Star 2-0
Benson County 2-0
TGU 2-0
Surrey 1-1
Kenmare 1-1
Tri-County 1-1
MLS 1-1
Four Winds 0-2
St. John 0-2
Dunseith 0-2

I would say after the first week, this is how the playoff race looks:
Contending for title:
North Star
Benson County

Contending for Playoffs:
TGU
St. John
MLS

Non-Contenders:
Tri-County
Four Winds
Kenmare
Dunseith
Surrey

If BC and NS don't have trouble with TGU and BC can beat MLS, a season finale between the two could be for region title

At this time, I think NS is the clear front runner for the region title, but a lot can still happen. NS could slip up and MLS and St John could still be in contention for the title at the end of the season. It would make for a great season finale if BC and NS were playing for the title that week. At this point, I see the top 4 being NS, BC, SJ, and MLS in no particular order.

Here's how it looks so far with their remaining schedule.

North Star 5-0 vs. Tri Co, vs. Ken, @ TGU, @ BC
MLS 4-1 vs. Surrey, @ Dun, vs. 4Wind, vs. Tri Co
Benson Co. 4-1 @ Dun, vs. TGU, @ Surrey, vs. NStar
TGU 4-1 @ Ken, @ BC, vs. NStar, @ 4Wind
4 Winds 2-3 @STJ, vs Tri Co, @ MLS, vs TGU
Surrey 2-3 @ MLS, @ STJ, vs. BC, @ Ken
Tri Co. 2-3 @ NS, @ 4Winds, vs. STJ, @ MLS
St. John 1-4 vs. 4Winds, vs. Surrey, @ Tri Co. vs. Dun

Contending for the Region Title:

North Star
Benson County
MLS

It's going to take a lot for Benson County to pull out the win against North Star but if they do, it should set up an interesting tie breaker between these three. I would include TGU but I just can't see them beating North Star and Benson County.

Contending for Playoff Spot:

TGU- As long as they just beat the teams they are supposed to, the 4th spot is practically a lock.
4Winds - We'll find out a lot about them this week, If they can find a way to pull out a win against a depleted St. John team and take care of Tri County, they would need TGU to lose to both North Star and Benson County. If that happens, believe it or not, then their last game against TGU could be a win and your in game.

Non-Contenders:

Surrey- Already with 3 losses, I just don't see them beating MLS or Benson Co. Even if they did win one of those games, they have already lost games to both TGU and Four Winds
Tri County- Giving them close to 0% chance of beating North Star or MLS and they would have to beat one of those teams to have a chance
St. John- They need to win out and get a lot of help!! which would include 4Winds beating MLS and I just don't see that happening

North Star 5-0 vs. Tri Co, vs. Ken, @ TGU, @ BC NS goes undeated 9-0
MLS 4-1 vs. Surrey, @ Dun, vs. 4Wind, vs. Tri Co MLS goes 8-1
Benson Co. 4-1 @ Dun, vs. TGU, @ Surrey, vs. NStar BC goes 7-2, loses to NS, if they beat NS, they win by less then 4, then a 3 way tie for 1st place, interesting

Big split between the top 3 and bottom 5

I really don't see how St John couldn't win out for the season and finish up 4-5 and in 5th. They will not lose to FW or Surrey. TGU squeeking out that win should clinch that 4th spot. Surprisingly I see FW finishing 6, TC 7, Surrey 8, and Kenmare 9, but wouldn't be suprised if Dunseith pulled out a win against them to send them to 10

Just want to make a quick correction. If SJ wins out they will be 5-4. Tough year for them the way I see it. They lost to NS by 8, BC by 1, TGU by 2. Mohall blew them out but SJ did have a 2TD lead in the 1st quarter.

Top four are locked into playoffs. Currently this is how it looks
1- NS 7-0 (Beat MLS by 14)
2-MLS (beat BC by 2, got max 17 points vs. TGU, lost by 14 to NS) 6-1
3-BC (lost to MLS by 2, beat TGU by 12) 6-1
4-TGU 5-2

TGU plays NS and FW-W
NS plays TGU and BC
BC play Surrey and NS
MLS plays FW-W and Drake

If NS wins out- 1-NS 2-MLS 3-BC 4-TGU
If NS beats TGU and loses to BC by less than 7- 1-NS 2-MLS 3-BC 4-TGU
If NS beats TGU and loses to BC by more than 8- 1-BC 2-NS 3-MLS 4-TGU
If NS loses out- 1-MLS 2-BC 3-TGU 4-NS
If NS loses to TGU and beats BC- 1-NS 2-MLS 3-BC 4-TGU
If BC loses out and TGU wins out- 1-NS 2-MLS 3-TGU 4-BC
If BC loses to Surrey and beats NS while TGU wins out- 1- MLS 2-BC, NS, TGU (depends on power points, BC is at +12 with TGU win)

This is all with MLS winning out, no way they will lose another in regular season.

I think it will be
1-NS
2-MLS
3-BC
4-TGU

A TGU upset vs. NS would make that last week crazy!
The one seed will be huge with a possible matchup first round against Shiloh, Hettinger, or Beach
Don't want to finish 3rd or 4th and have to go to Crosby, Mott, or Turtle Lake/Underwood.......
I personally only seeing the 1 seed winning in first round.

Was just told that Benson County had to vacate their victory over Four Winds the first game of the season for playing an ineligible player. If this is true, and I heard from a reliable source, then NorthStar wins the region outright, and the game tomorrow only matters for BC.

If this is true, game wouldnt matter for both teams. BC would be 6-2 and with a loss would be 6-3. If TGU wins, they would be 6-3 as well, but BC would have tie-breaker.

How ironic--Four Winds gets a win because the OTHER team played an ineligible player.

What was the situation with the ineligible player? Assuming that since FW was the first game of the season it may have to do with a player not having enough practices?
