I love 9 man football, and couldn't wait to get out of the cold from watching college ball to see the the highlights on the news. The youngest grothman from Hillsboro was on a highlight and almost ran for a TD without his helmet. Shouldn't the other players let him use theirs when they are not in the game! Congrats to the teams that are left should be a wild ride from here on out.

I believe it was Alex McLean who lost his helmet on the way to a long run.

On a side note, I heard rumor that specific play should have been blown dead when his helmet was pulled off. Any rules experts? It is obviously not the case in the NFL but...in high school?

We had that happen a couple of years ago in Leeds. Play was blown dead. Runner had nothing but daylight in front of him (as best you can, when you play in Leeds). BTW no penalty on the play.

Yes, by rule, the play should have been blown dead as soon as the ball carriers helmet came off. It's a safety issue in high school football for the protection of the players. It only applies to the ball carrier. If a person attempting to make a tackle loses their helmet, play continues.
