Were talking the best teams in the state here. Hillsboro? Really? They wont be around the number 1 team in the state 2nd or 3rd round at most 3rd you have to remember they lost there whole line besides burg. Thompson is going to be alright but they wont make it past the 2nd round in the playoffs. DP will be decent they bring back luhring whos a big help but they dont have that tall receiver for him to throw to that he did last year.

1. I talked with someone who used to coach in Region 2 last week and he thought Hillsboro might be the best team in the region, but only because the region is going to be down. So I'm doubting best team in the state.

2. Would someone with some knowledge of Napoleon post what we should expect from them. I originally thought they lost a lot, but I could be wrong.

Napoleon lost a ton - Gross is gone, Laber is gone, Weigel (best receiver) is gone, Fettig, QB, is gone. This could be the year Napoleon's reign in Region 1 ends.

Hillsboro is a question mark right now - will they be able to block for the option and will Mayo be able to run the option smoothly.

I'd probably put Hillsboro around #5 since they have some roles to fill and Napolean probably down around #10 because they lost a lot, but have an excellent tradition. If I remember right, Williams Co didn't lose all that much (granted it was some of their best players) but I think they'd be close to the top this year again. I expect Mott Regent, Cent McClean, and even TGU to be in the top 5 based on who they bring back. St John, DP, and Divide County will probably be up there as usual based on their success the past few years. Here is what I would expect the preseason top 10 to look like (based on how sportswriters will vote)

1. Williams Co
2. Central McClean
3. Hillsboro (just because they are defending champs)
4. Mott Regent
5. Napolean (just because of their tradition)
6. St John
7. DP
8. Divide County (based on tradition again)
9. TGU
10. RTH (not sure who they lost but they could even be higher)

This was ndlionsfan's poll

1. Williams Co
2. Central McClean
3. Hillsboro (just because they are defending champs)
4. Mott Regent
5. Napolean (just because of their tradition)
6. St John
7. DP
8. Divide County (based on tradition again)
9. TGU
10. RTH (not sure who they lost but they could even be higher)

williams county is moving up to 11 man so everyone will get bumped up one spot...i liek that poll with st.john and dp playing eachother this year...i think it's the 4th game of the year...i don't think RTH will be anywher near the top though with how much they lost, i think they lost something like 7 total starters or something

You're right, I forgot all about Williams Co moving up this year. Couldn't remember if RTH had a lot of seniors or not, but I guess since they did they probably won't be ranked in the top ten then. Are there are teams coming down from 11 man that might be tough to beat? New Rockford, Kenmare, and Beach all move down this year. What about Wyndmere/Lidgerwood or South Border? Both played alright in the playoffs last year. Do either teams bring a lot back? How about any new co-ops? Can Glenburn/W-N, NCB/Maddock, and Lakota/A-E compete at the top with the new combination of players?

1. Central MCLean (looks like they have the most coming back)
2. DP (good qb + good wr's = good Offense)
3. Mott - Regent (pretty solid team last year and they return almost everybody)
4. Hillsboro (defending champs)
5. St. John (return all state LB Tyler Bryant, well fin out week 4 if they are under/over rated)
6. Napolean (seems like they just reload not rebuild)
7. Wyndmere/Ligerwood (don't know much about them but seems like they are always 2nd or 3rd round ervy year)
8. Divide County (should be boss of a depleated region)
9. TGU (needs both keller and thorson to stay as a competitor)
10. Wells Co. (could surprise alot of people, they have good tradition and alot of keys players back)

I'm sure there area a couple of other teams I could have threw in there, but this is what a came up with off the top of my head.

Divide county is loosing there star QB and Backs. The only reason they should be on the top ten this year is because of the region they are in. I would like to see a team like Wells county go far, they have been under the radar for a long time now. Hillsboro should be in the top five just because they are defending champs and could have there momentum going.

It looks like Mot-Regent and Hettinger both have at least 12 or 13 Sr.s back. So, on strength of numbers I'd throw M-R in the top 5 and Hettinger in the top 10.
