Oakes Title Chances

What are everone's thoughts with respect to Oake's chances at making a title run? They seem to be flying below the radar a bit. But their only loss is to Napolean, in a very close game that came down to the last play. They are dominated by seniors and playmakers, as well. It seems they could surprise. Thoughts?

I think that they have pretty good talent and a definate up and coming coach, but a person has got to wonder if by repeatedly playing his kids well into the 4th quarter of games that they didn't need to be in, is it going to hurt them? It could go either way with this theory, his kids might be better "game" conditioned than some of the other teams, or his kids could be "worn down" from playing too much.

They've probably got a shot at winning a game or two. Past that, I don't know. In their only out of region game they beat Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 29-27. WL is likely the 2 seed out of Region 2. But Hillsboro, the likely 1 seed out of Region 2, beat WL 40-0. So I see Oakes rising to the level of a 2 seed and probably not beyond.

But wasnt this their first game? so really Oakes could have been a little rusty and didnt play like they've been playing now. I haven't seen Oakes play so i could be wrong.

True, it was their first game. They could be more solid now. Where's all the Region 1 people who can tell us more?

I actually was at the WL - Oakes game and was very impressed by both teams, especially considering it was so early in the season. Oakes has been pretty dominant in Region 1, with the exception of the Napolean game, where they lost a heartbreaker at the very end. They made a lot of mistakes during that game (2 short kickoffs recovered by Napolean and some turnovers). You take these away and I think they win that game. Hagen, a junior, is an extremely good two way player (RB and DB) and their offensive and defensive lines are very good. Recently their passing game seems to be coming around as well, albiot against lower level teams. They have 13 seniors so their depth is good as well. They are a very good all around team but have not been deep into the playoffs before so one has to wonder how they will react should they get there.

Oakes is a very good team and they have a great chance at state, i mean they only lost 1 game and that was to the best team in my opinion in Napoleon and the score was 26-20.

He hasn't coached anywhere else but he played under the guise and wisdom of Rod Oksendahl at Cavalier, one of the best HS coaches ND has ever had.

??? They have done really well in the regular season, blowing up teams and scoring points in the 60s. I think they should be lucky they are moving up to 11 man next year, because some of these teams they beat really bad this year, know that they are losing an all senior Offensive line, would like to have their shot at revenge next year.
