Gross, Grothman, Severson,
I don't know if I practiced more than anybody, but I sure practiced enough. I still wonder if somebody - somewhere - was practicing more than me.

Kosel EK, Jangula, EK

one thing to remember about stats is teams like Napoleon, Mott-Regent, EK blowing teams out the number of carries in 2nd half should be considered. I saw Kosel carry 8 times for 100+ yds Friday night. Think he played the 1st quarter.

I'd love to see the breakdown of Gross carrying in the 2nd half. He's had alot of yds when the game was alread blown out.

Same goes for Severson for Dakota Prairie. Hes really only carried that ball in the second half against North Border, Lakota, and Thompson all the other games its been either 2 quarters or a quarter and a half.  I don't know his total yardage on the year, but its probably around 1,200 or more.

i would have to say that cooley is an outstanding back and severson has a great o line and a team that plays well together

the lakota backs are just physical

would tanner carpenter count as a running back since he does most of the running for north border?

The runningback from Lakota, Johannson is by far the best from region 3 and probably the state

Reid Haagenson from NCB has to have over 1000 so far this year. He has had some 250yd+ games and a few others right around 200.

Andy Bergrud from Maddock is having a good season.  I wouldn't consider him the best in the state, but maybe top 10.  Had 281 against Wells Co and 384 yds against TGU in his last two games.....both playoff teams.

You need to add Haagenson from NCB....definite top ten back.  Could possibly add Wisthoff from Glenbrun to the list, too.  I know he's a QB, but he's also the leading rusher.  Does Divide or Williams have an good RB?

Kosel has 1069 yds and 11 TD

Bergrud has 1047 yds and 13 TD

Haagenson had over 700 yds and 8 TD after 4 games....don't know what he has now

Another possible top ten RB is Luna from TGU....925 yds and 14 TD

And like I said before Wisthoff isn't really a RB, but he has 702 yds and 10 TD on the ground to go along with 903 yds and 12 TD threw the air....basically all of Glenburn's offense

Good top 10... Gion, Gross, Ihry and Johannson are all the work horse's for their teams. Seversn gets limited carries because of Dakota Prairie's passing attack, maybe 14 at the most a game, but still gets 150+.  Grothmann is another kid that doesn't get the carries that the top 3 get.  Ihry I think next year he will be in the top 2. Cooley is very shifty and a hard runner from what I saw, but I don't think he is the quality of the top 5.

Heres mine...

1. Gion- Mott/Regent

2. Johannson- Lakota

3. Gross- Napolean

4. Severson- Dakota Prairie

5. Grothmann- Hillsboro

6. Ihry- Hope-Page-Finley-Sharon

7. Cooley- Thompson

8. Kosel- Edegely-Kulm

9. Haagenson- NCB

10. Hagen- Oakes

Bergrud from Maddock finished with 1235 yds on 133 carries giving him a 9.3 avg.  He finished with 15 rushing TDs, 4 receiving TDs, and 3 KO returns for TDs.  If he didn't play on a 2-7 team a lot more people would be talking about him as one of the top RB.

i don't think Ihry should be that high on the list yet. He's a good back but not top 10 yet.
