Big Games

The teams in 9 Man

Postby Pfenix » Thu Sep 13, 2007 5:29 pm

We're at the halfway point of the season.  Are there any games that will help decide the final region standings this week?  There are two big games in region six with Richardton facing undefeated Hettinger, and Heart River taking on #2 Mott/Regent.  RTH and HR are looking for some upsets against two quality teams.  What about the rest of the state?

Region 1 - No big matchups this weekend. Arguably, the top region will see Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter and Edgeley-Kulm pick up wins Friday night?

Region 2 - a big game between Hillsboro and Wyndmere-Lidgerwood.  Both are undefeated.

Region 3 - wait for Lakota vs. North Border in the Alerus Center on October 11th.  Dakota Prairie has a easier schedule the rest of the way.

Region 4 - TGU at North Central Benson could be interesting.  The Titans are averaging nearly 45 points per game and the Raiders defense is only allowing 6.7 points per game.

Region 5 - Williams County at Berthold-Our Redeemer's.  These two, along with Divide County will battle it out for #1, #2, and #3.  The Maroons defeated B-OR by 30 last week.  If the Bombers can knock off Williams County, it'll be a big game when Williams County travels to Divide County to close out the regular season.

Region 6 - Could Richardton-Taylor pull off a mini-upset of the undefeated Hettinger Black Devils?  R-T is coming off of close losses to (#2) Mott-Regent, 20-14 in week # 2, and (3-1) Central McLean 14-8, last Friday night.

TGU and NCB tonight is a big one in Region 4.  If TGU wins, I think they'll be region champs with an undefeated region record.  If NCB wins, I think region 4 will end in a 3 way tie with NCB, TGU, and St. John.

Definitely.  They have alot of talent, and after those two losses alot of drive and motivation.  RTH hasn't lost to hettinger since hettinger dropped down a couple of years ago.  I would'nt be surprised if they won.

you don't have to win championships to be considered a good team

That was the key in this game.  NCB had 4 turnovers, but their defense shut TGU down and controlled the game.  TGU had some nice drives, but when they got down in the red zone NCB clamped down and got the ball back on downs numerous times.  Their pass defense is a little shaky, tho.  When the TGU QB had time to throw he picked the secondary apart a bit, but he was also sacked quite a few times by NCB def line.

I think E-K has too many weapons in the backfield for Napoleon, however I think it has the potential to be a very close game.

Pretty sure that the E-K versus Napoleon is going to be the biggest game of the week.
