Who's looking like the front runner in Region 4 this year?

I would say the front runners are North Central Benson and Wells County ....... then Tri-County, Maddock, and TGU after them..... and then Dunseith , Saint John, and North Star at the bottom

Wells will more than likely be at the bottom of the regoin. They lost alot and didnt replenish much if anything at all. They are hurting for numbers. TGU and NCB will be the better teams in the region.

Why are you even talking about St. John. They have won like 5 games in the last 3 years!

Probably because the topic is Region 4, and St. John is in Region 4.

I realize that, but are they honestly going to be any good?

Most likely not, but that doesn't mean he can't comment on them and support his home town team.   The topic is simply - Region 4

Again, I KNOW THEY ARE IN REGION 4. Also, I never said he couldn't comment or support his hometown team, so do not speak for me. Isn't that the point of this site anyway, to talk about and debate sports? Anyway, sorry if I offend people.

Sorry, I guess I thought this implied that you didn't think he should be talking about them because they are not going to be good.   Pardon the confusion.

[font=arial]Didn't NCB lose a lot of Seniors from last years team? I wouldn't call them a top dog this year.

Only around 4 or 5 and they bring back a lot of underclassmen who have been seeing a lot of playing time the last couple of years. TGU and NCB will be "top dogs" in this region, everyone else will be about the same W-L record. Write that down.

I saw TGU play at valley city team camp this june and they didn't look very good. they have a few seniors coming back but they aren't game changers.

most teams in this region lost alot of seniors or have few numbers.  some teams are forced to start players who have not played much on the varsity level.  this reagion will be a funn one to watch

I agree.....it seems like numbers are way down in this region this year.  A lot of senior dominated teams last year and a lot of young teams this year.  It should be interesting how this region turns out, but don't expect any deep runs into the playoffs.

As for me being a former Tri-County player, i can't see my team being any good this year.  Last year the whole team was seniors exept for 2 players who spot started.  I think it is kind of hard for there team to get wins when there coach is to busy worrying about his girls basketball practices.

Should have went to Velva guys.

I really want to know something about this region. Can anyone tell me who are the front runners? Best players? Anything? The only team that sticks our to me is TGU. But then again, I don't know much about this region either.

North Central Benson would be the favorite with TGU a close second after that the region is weak this year I would expect Maddock to be in the top 4  at the end of the season after that some team with 4 wins will be in the playoffs who I don't know

although wells county has lost a tremendous amount of seniors this past year, i still believe that they are going to be one of the upper teams this year in region 4, just the way they mesh with each other and they have a good group of young talent, hardworking players and they play very well as a team, and with Coach Bertsch on the sidelines guiding them they'll be a team to watch

It will be interesting to see this Region pan-out. Their Champion and runner-up fall on the side of the Region 6 Champion in the Play-off Bracket. I havent seen much faith , from the people in that region (4) thus far about their respective teams. It looks as though youthful teams have been behind this. Maybe one will emerge and put up a fight come play-off time.

The top-side of the Bracket should be really tough. Region 5 Champ-Runnerup as well as Region 6 Runnerup, all will be quality teams.

It seems to me that Mott-Regent and Richardton-taylor kinda got the shaft in the Minot Daily's preseason picks. Three out of the four writers picked Richardton-Taylor either 8th or 9th and Mott, the clear #1 in my eyes, got two third place votes and a second. Not that these matter a whole lot but some of the writer's decisions just seemed a little strange to me.
