My early take is you have LLM and everyone else. There hasn't been a very impressive 2nd team in the state.

Not to diminish LaMoure but they’ve played horrible teams
Larimore one win over Richland who is 0-3, Griggs 0-3, Finley 2-1 winning against tri-state 0-3 and Enderlin 1-2 only win is Griggs. Now look at their upcoming schedule there are playing teams that are not very impressive on the W/L side. With that said they are not just beating these teams they are destroying them.

LOL their total score this year is 204-0. I don't care who you play, that's pretty impressive. You can only beat the teams on your schedule.

LaMoure player Tri-State and Richland over the next couple weeks. Should be more of the same, but then they play Wyndmere/Lidgerwood in week 6. I think that could be a better game than some think.

New Salem and Cavalier haven't looked uber impressive so far this year. New Salem was tied 0-0 with Beach at halftime and pulled away late. They beat Grant County/Flasher but their offense got shut out in that game, and it was tied in the second half of last week's game as well before once again they pulled away late in the game.

Cavalier has only played two actual games and received a forfeit. Their game against Maple Valley/Enderlin was played in heavy rain, it was the first game of the year and under a new coaching staff. Those could be factors that played a part in a close game. They did beat Wyndmere/Lidgerwood in the second week but trailed at different times throughout the game. It will be interesting to see how they fair against some of the teams that LaMoure blew out the first three weeks for comparison sake.

You can make that statement about pretty much anyone outside of Lamoure. New Salem is ranked #2 in the state and through three games hasn't blown anyone out. Cavalier's close game with MVE doesn't make me believe they're out of this world either.

New Salem 3-0 plays South Border 3-0 tonight, NS plays Napoleon 3-0 next week and SB plays Napoleon the week after. Should know who who after that in region 5.

Beach and New Salem's game was also played in heavy rain.

4-0 New Salem vs 4-0 imperials should decide who’s number two in the state

Napoleon likely takes South Border's spot this week in the top 5. I'm not sure Napoleon would take the #2 spot unless they absolutely pound New Salem.

I might pump the breaks just a little bit on Napoleon moving up to #2. They're 4-0 and playing great football so I do not mean any disrespect, but their four opponents are a combined 4-12 overall right now. They haven't had a game within 20 points, but they haven't played anyone else worthy of even receiving votes at this point.

LaMoure is in the same boat with the exception that they beat FSHP 54-0 and that's FSHP's only loss. outside of that quality win, the other three teams that they have played are 1-11 combined... and their next opponent is 0-4 for that matter too and has already forfeited one game.

New Salem's opponents are 6-10 combined, but a lot of those teams that they have played are quality teams who have been beating up on each other. of the top 5 ranked teams, I would say this has been the team that has played the most difficult schedule so far.

Cavalier's opponents are 5-11 combined. Or 5-7 if you take out the 0-4 Richland team that forfeited to them. They played a close game against MV-E, beat a W/L team on the road that is 3-1 and was ranked #5 at the time. They don't look like they'll be tested for a few weeks with Larimore and Griggs county coming up who are 1-7 combined.

Ray/PL is the other team right now in the polls. They're 4-0. Like Cavalier, I would say they almost mirror Cavalier. One big quality win over Surrey, they got a forfeit from Parshall, and won their other games relatively handily. They should get tested next week vs. Divide County, who I think might be worthy of a top-5 ranking.

After 4 weeks this is how I would break down 9 man football into tiers:
1: LaMoure

2: Cavalier, Ray PL, New Salem, Napoleon, South Border

3: WL, MPCG, Nelson County, North Prairie, Surrey, Hettinger-Scranton

I would say we will have some more clarity between 2 and 3 in the coming weeks.

I like this but would definitely include Bottineau and Divide County in the mix. DC maybe in Tier 2 and Bottineau in Tier 3?

You're definitely right. I'd include those teams in either tier 2 or tier 3.
